Ok I went to the batting cages the other day to get some hitting in. I hit 150 pitches which I think is a lot. During the last 30 or so pitches my hands started to hurt like hell and then I get blisters on my thumbs. I hate when this happens and does anyone have any tips on how to stop this from happening? I didn't have this problem during baseball season but didn't hit this many balls in a practice. (Btw I did wear batting gloves)

Don't hold the bat as tight. Takes practice but it will actually make you a better hitter because your straining you hands so much it doesn't allow you to get your full potential bat speed.

Make sure that your batting gloves are tight and have no wrinkles anywhere. Also, make sure that you readjust them during rounds. I would say that 150 swings is a lot. The major leaguers don't even hit that many in a row. I'd say take a round, step out for about 2-3 minutes and take another. Also, make sure you're holding the bat with relaxed hands, in the correct knocking knuckles aligned position. Hope this helps.

before putting on ur batting gloves put tape like the players use around the spots you are getting blisters... like VLAD. he uses no batting gloves so he gets blisters frequently.. which is why he wraps his fingers with white tape.

your hands will toughen up over time

this is the correct answer. i had a batting cage and took a couple hundred cuts a day and never wore batting gloves.

I've stopped hitting with batting gloves totally. I used to love to use them, but without them grip is better, than bat handle is now thinner. Something to think about. What is happening especially after all those swings is your hands are sweating, and its causing friction with the glove, add a tight grip and you get blisters.

The guys are right though, they will toughen up over time. (Especially if you ditch the gloves).

Its usually one spot where im getting bad blisters all the time. That tape thing might work. I think I hit too much too because my hands and fingers were really sore. I don't use too tight of a grip on the bat either...

the tap will work i promise you that.. it used to happen to me all the time but not anymore. the others are right about the hands toughening up BUT that will take awhile you will have to go through many blisters for your hands to stop getting blisters entirely and thats what ur trying to prevent.
