I came across this Ty Cobb yesterday at a fair price I couldn't pass it up. Honestly I've never seen one. Everybody's thoughts real or fake and any tricks to tell before sending it off to get graded? Thanks

My gut tells me that it might be a reprint, judging from how good condition it's in. I don't know much about that era of cards though.

Yup, W514 but unfortunately not original. If you compare to an original you will notice the photo cropping, border close to right arm and he's missing fingers on his left hand.

Great catch, I didn't know about the w551 strip cards. I've had plenty of the w514, w515-1 and a few w515-2 and didn't even notice the different text at the bottom.

It means someone put effort into making the corners look "worn". In doing so, they end up putting "clean" rounded corners.

It was originally part of a small panel, I believe. Most people cut these types out with square corners... rounding edges intentionally is a common attempt at adding to authenticity.

Oh, and that's not to say that real cards won't have rounded corners. There's just a huge difference between corners that are WORN from real age versus being cut/rubbed uniformly.
