Bobby V's big mistake was backing down with Youkilis, Pedroia, et al. He should have gone in guns blazing and not backed down.

Shocking. He was a disaster from day 1, and it continued through game 162, throwing his assistant coaches under the bus when he knew he was likely on his way out. A mediocre at best in game manager, and a miserable people manager. What a mess.
That's not to say the entire 2012 Sox disaster was his fault, I don't think anyone would have been able to take this injured mess to the playoffs, but he just made it that much worse

There was too big of a disconnect there in the dugout and locker room between Valentine & the former core of the Red Sox players. He should've just stayed at ESPN. Now they'll hire John Farrell and the Red Sox fans will think they'll win the World Series in '13.
