I'm not a fan of pulling out contest-entry/redemption cards as there's no guarantee that I'd end up getting the stated item. I want pure happiness right out of a pack, not a note that tells me I have to wait several months (at least) to find out if I'm going to be happier or not.

Sorry to sound like a downer here...but best of luck to you (be it getting that ball in August or big auction $$).

Oh, by the way....are you the same Brauny who posts in the original comic book artwork threads (my other hobby)?

No I am not the same brauny, didn't know there was another. Its ok to be a downer, but the odds of 1 in 13 or less than that is pretty darn good.

Anything worse than 50/50 isn't really that good. ;-)

I will say that it'd be TOUGH to pass up that 1/13 chance, though.
I will say, however, that a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush - meaning, if you sell the redemption, there's a good chance you can draw enough to actually buy a Ruth cut. (And that's a sale price you can control via BIN)

I think I'd go for the cut, but it's a damn fine thing to pull. I'm super jealous.

Could you sell the chance to win the auto ball and actually buy a Ruth Cut?

Good questions, I am debating that right now. I am assuming and if it were me being the owner of Onyx, if I were giving away a Babe Ruth ball at the National with all of the attention and cameras, it would be a nice baseball and graded appropriately. It will not be some faded piece of crud ball. What do you think?

I have seen the ball and was there when it was purchased.

It's a solid Ruth example with tons of provenance. The sig, while faded some is still clearly visible and the ball is in overall good condition. It wouldn't draw a premium if graded, but a solid ball none the less.

I would think that since there are only 13 entries available, no only will all of them not get pulled but some of the people that have pulled one won't be able to make it to the drawing. I would say you stand a 1 in 9 chance worst case, 1 in 6 best case.

Disclaimer - as always I could be wrong and usually am. But still I think realistically it will be better than 1 in 13.

Brauny, ask Onyx if the redemption holders who don't win the ball get anything as a consolation...

@cgilmo Onyx stated that Tris Speaker is also on this ball on the side panel. How nice of a ball is this? You can PM me if you would like.

@coltsnsox I pm'd Onyx and we have been going back and I mentioned that it would be nice if the attendees got something if they didn't win or just for going and they had not planned on it, but they will be looking into it.

ONLY 2 of these have been redeemed and mine is the 3rd one. So right now I am thinking it is good idea to keep the ticket and just go for it. I will be accepting offers as I have it on auction now with BIN or Best offer. I told Onyx I will be holding this for awhile and will see as the ODDS take shape.

Just a heads up. I think your description on the listing is kinda confusing.

This is what you have in the listing:

" There have been none of these known to have been pulled so this could be very scarce or a 1 of 1. The Golden Ticket Entry states: CONGRATULATIONS! You have received an official entry into the very limited Babe Ruth autographed baseball drawing. Drawing to be held August 4, 2012 in Baltimore, MD. You do not need to be present to win. There are only 13 of these Golden Entry Tickets and Onyx stated as of 2/16/2012 that only 2 have been submitted. You will have a 1 in 3 chance of winning if everything stays true to form."

So is it a 1 of 1, 1 of 3, or 1 of 13? Might confuse some buyers who aren't real familiar with the product.

True, I was adding a few times during the day and when I heard there were two other golden tickets submitted for a total of 3 I forgot to remove that comment, gonna do that now.

If it was me I'm not sure I could possibly consider holding it and taking a chance on what amounts to a $1000 per ticket lottery (or something in that ballpark.) Of course I'm fairly risk averse, so that's just me.

I figure it is a bonus, but when offers come in for this, I will heavily consider them. I figured right now I am taking the chance with the good odds. If it is meant to be it is meant to be.

Great pull.

Didnt this just come out? And August is a LONG time away I am sure most if not all will be pulled by then so those odds are irrelevant right now. The only odds you or anyone buying it should be worried are the odds when they draw.
