I read that Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter have been hit by RedSox Pitching 28 times.

David Ortiz...once.
Jeter falls over the plate more than anyone in history. He has 155 HBP in his career, Ortiz has 31....and I don't think it's because every team in the league hates Jeter and loves Ortiz.

Yes he does. It is absolutely rediculous. I have seen him get hit with balls that were over the plate. Imagine if he played in the 60's. You think Gibson or Drysdale would let him dive in like that?

5 hits so far this inning to take the lead :D

And CC looked so good before...

If Swisher wouldn't have let the ball get by him it would have been a totally different inning.

However, he can't hit and he can't field.

Your ace gave up a game-tying double to a guy batting .150.

Why would Ortiz get hit by Red Sox pitching? 8-)

Man, if it's Sox-Yankees, even the dumbest stuff gets made into stories.

I have no problem with bat-flips from anyone. The only time I'd take a HR celebration personal (as a pitcher) is if it's one of those 30-second trips around the bases. But in the instant after you know you've crushed it? No problem. But the media almost seemed to shame the Yankees into responding, and I don't have a problem with a grumpy Ortiz (unless he's back on the juice and it's roid rage - that's bad).

As for the HBP stats, I always find those misleading, because being hit with an errant breaking ball isn't the same as drilled in the ass with a fastball, but the stats don't differentiate. There's always both in a total. And thrown-at-but-not-hit isn't a stat, but is probably worse than the errant breaking ball that connected (see: Joba-Youkilis, Beckett-Abreu).
