I wonder how this will play out.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... on-friday/

Our brethren at CFT have posted an item on the forthcoming fate of the USC football program.

And so we'll encourage you to check it out, and we'll raise the one question that has the most NFL relevance depending on the announcement that is expected for Friday.

Will Saints running back Reggie Bush lose his Heisman Trophy if it turns out that he was ineligible for all or part of the 2005 season?

When the allegations first arose that Bush and/or his family received cash and/or prizes from a prospective agent, the powers-that-be with the Downtown Athletic Club made it clear that, if Bush is determined retroactively to have been ineligible, the Heisman Trophy could be at risk.

Of course, that was four years ago.

It has been presumed that the award simply would be packed up and shipped to Titans quarterback Vince Young, who finished second in the voting. Maybe they'd simply conduct the balloting again.

I can't imagine they'd revote. Giving it to Young wouldn't be the perfect solution (since there isn't one), but it would be the best solution.

if he in fact was breaking rules....I say **** him....he doesn't deserve the trophy or any of the privileges that a Heisman winner gets.

Won't happen. You think all the other Heisman winners throughout the years didn't receive something special to secure their commitments to their representative schools? This isn't a one-time deal folks.

Same as steroids to me - speculation is nothing. Once it's proven, get out the cross.

Of course he's not the 1st....but that doesn't make it right....all the others were just smart enough not to get caught up....wrong is wrong PERIOD.....if he is the cause of USC losing a National Championship then I hope to God that his Heisman is taken away!!!

I'm not arguing right or wrong, I think we all agree that these things shouldn't happen. I'm just saying they won't take it away. Hell, Cushing took steroids (voluntarily or involuntarily) and they still revoted him ROY,

Frankly, I don't think people really care. I honestly don't care that much. I want to see touchdowns and fantastics plays by great talent. I don't care if Reggie drove around in a nice car in college. Kid had skills

Cushing didn't fail his test for a steroid, it was a fertility drug. It was a low level one time, and he came out clean in all future testing. The HCG could technically have been natural if he just ejaculated recently before taking his urine test, but I don't think he even tried to argue that. Regardless, it was a banned substance, and he was punished accordingly. It's one step below steroids, and that substance is often linked to use after steroids (see Manny Ramirez).
