I think part of the problem is that a large percentage of these regional/team issues are going to non-collectors. I can't tell you how many times I've found rare Pirate items (not valuable, just stuff rare) at flea markets sitting at a table next to some expired cans of beans and a pile of broken action figures.

Great post. As a player collector, I completely conquer. Three Bonds issues that have been on my CL that I cannot find are:
1993 California Highway Patrol
1994 Taco Bell Handout card (stadium handout)
1998 Circle K Phone card (supposedly 15,100 of these produced!)

2010 Topps "Ring Ceremony" Set

3-card set given out at Modell's Sporting Goods in NYC after the 2009 World Series Celebration with purchase at their retail store. Hardly see these any more. They had pictures from the ceremony at City Hall.

Nice, love that type of thing. Looks like maybe there was another next to it as well that was clipped poorly. Not sure I'd sink $10 into a Tim Nordbrook item though, regardless of the scarcity, unless I was Tim Nordbrook or I had to have a set.

Some of the National Covention or MLB Fanfest cards can be hard to track down. I still have not seen the 2007 Upper Deck All Star Fanfest Albert Pujols variations with the Golden Gate Bridge or Trolley.

Jerry Morales was the Cub that was next to Nordbrook in that issue. If I ever found a similar Winfield in a digital archive, I'd just print out a copy, check it off my list and call it a day.

Cub/White Sox combos. Cool, like the Long Beach Dodgers/Angels.

Ok, this isn't really a regional issue, but as I was browsing through the "unknown" cards on COMC, I saw that someone had submitted some Uno cards featuring MLB players. I knew vaguely that there had been some Uno sets, but hadn't really paid much attention to them since no one else seemed to, and no one I collected would be in them. Today I did a little digging in an attempt to determine from which set those COMC cards had originated and was immediately lost in a veritable sea of various MLB Uno sets. In about the past 30 minutes, I have discovered no fewer than 39 distinctly different MLB-licensed Uno sets, depicting players, issued between 2004-2010.

This looks like a long slog of cataloging ahead. This is what I have identified so far:

Fundex Boston Red Sox
Fundex Chicago White Sox
Fundex Detroit Tigers
Fundex New York Mets
Fundex New York Yankees

200? Seattle Mariners (cardboard box)

2004 Boston Red Sox (gray tin)
2004 Boston Red Sox World Series Champions (red & blue tin)
2004 New York Yankees (white pinstripe tin)

2005 Boston Red Sox (red & blue tin)
2005 Chicago White Sox World Series Champions (red & gray tin)
2005 Houston Astros (red tin)
2005 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (red tin)
2005 New York Mets (red & blue tin)
2005 Philadelphia Phillies (red & gray tin)
2005 St. Louis Cardinals (red & blue tin)
2005 Texas Rangers (red & blue tin)

2006 Boston Red Sox (red tin)
2006 New York Yankees (blue pinstripe tin)
2006 St. Louis Cardinals World Series Champions (jersey case)
2006 Stars of the American League
2006 Stars of the National League

2007 Daisuke Matsuzaka (jersey case)
2007 David Ortiz (jersey case)
2007 Derek Jeter (jersey case)
2007 Hideki Matsui (jersey case)
2007 Alex Rodriguez (jersey case)
2007 David Wright (jersey case)

2007 Boston Red Sox (jersey case)
2007 Chicago Cubs (jersey case)
2007 Chicago White Sox (jersey case)

One that I am having some difficulty with is the 2005 Dr. Pepper Texas Rangers postcard-sized card of Sandy Alomar Jr. There are so few Rangers cards of Alomar out there in the first place, so to have one disappear entirely is a little disappointing.

I was thinking of the notoriously scarce 1990 McDonald's Score, only issued in the meth areas of Idaho and eastern Oregon. Those don't seem to be as tough as I thought, given the decent amount available on ebay, but they can go for silly money.

In 1989 and 1990, Score and Pepsi issued a Red Sox team set in the RI/MA area. Cards were glued into the 12-pack cartons, and they were bouncing around cans of soda, so these are tough to find in great shape.

Yeah those are hard to find in general. I have a number of them but nowhere near all.
