Finally got one of these today in the mail from ebay. Only cost $15.

Anyone remember how expensive these used to be, even raw ones?

Never had one of these for my mediocre David Carr collection due to the high cost. Looked on ebay and found this one.

One good thing: doesn't seem to be tons of bidding competition on ebay for his cards! :)

This can be said about 80-90% of cards 5+ years down the line. Gotta love people paying massive amounts for unproven rookie year players. An extreme few ever hold value down the line.

I pulled one of those Lombardi Trophy cards out of a pack of 1990 Pro Set at the local card store back when the product had just hit the market. The owner of the store, Dave something, told me that it wasn't worth much and offered me $20.00 in trade for it, which I accepted because I thought that he was telling me the truth. I found out a few days later that he had sold the card for $400.00.

That guy was one of the most dishonest card dealers that I have ever met.

I hope you never went back to that shop, or at least give him a piece of your mind afterwards- what a *****, especially to a regular customer.

I don't think that was ever THE card. Carr had many better cards than that that were more popular and booked much higher. Though I am shocked you still had to pay $15 for it.

No, I never went back. The owner ended up closing the store the following year because he had built such a bad reputation from the way that he treated people. He was also known for searching most of his wax boxes, so hardly anyone ever bought a pack from him.

It's too bad that you were treated that way. I'm sure it would have been awesome to have the $400. I don't sell anything unless I can see what it, or something comparable to it, sells for on ebay. I feel lucky to have found an honest shop owner that I can trust. In fact, there is Someone else that I trust much, much more than anyone...

By the way Keith, nice signature.
