But see there are two arguments here; price that you are willing to pay for an item and price "acceptable" to pay for shipping.
My point and NOT in defense of Phily, I factor shipping cost into my bid price........I rip the mailer open upon receipt and only give a second thought to shipping cost when a PWE arrives. See I dont care about new/reused mailer because I factored shipping into my total max price.

I bid exactly like you. I guess that's why I couldn't care less about what I receive my items in, because I never actually pay for S&H.

I bought an item today via BO and my offer was 33.01. I was willing to pay 35 and shipping is a 1.99.

In no scenario do i pay more than i expect, if anything on an auction style, i can only pay less.

Thats my fiscal calculation.

Soooo... they should pass it on to me? Makes sense.

Adam; I see what you are saying and agree.......however some of us bid like SCT and Phily. If you bid like us it does not really matter because we have factored shipping into the price. Passing on cost to me in mox-nix since I have set my max price and if I win I am happy regardless of mailer......PWE is a different story imho.

It seems like what's going on here is more you not giving a crap about the environment and being picky about getting new bubble mailers. You probably throw all those new bubble mailers right into the trash too, huh. "I wanna pay my money to fill up that landfill with plastic!"

That's you. I, too, take S&H into account when I bid on an item. The difference is, and this is a shot directly at you - not GC, I'm not so simple minded that I can't separate my cost vs seller charge when making my decision on star ratings fairly quickly. If it takes lengthy effort for you to figure out that you could have gotten the card cheaper (despite you being willing to pay a certain amount) had the S&H been accurately reflected... then - well - that's an issue that I can't help you with. You see? That's what DSR ratings are for... they aren't for pre-purchase saying "I am willing to pay this amount". They are for post-purchase when saying "Wow, I could have gotten this for $8 total instead of $11+ had the seller actually charged me accurate shipping". It takes less than a second to determing that and less than a second for a 4-star rating. And, guess what? 4-star ratings aren't THAT BAD. Just because eBay dicks you for having star ratings doesn't mean I'm going to handle a seller with kiddie gloves.

Adam makes a point and in his bidding system it works. Paying $3 for shipping should entitle him to a new mailer, he is paying for mailer/shipping/DC. If I bid this way I would feel the same way; again I bid what I value to card and that factors shipping into the bid.

"Screw the environment, send me my bright new shiny bubble mailers so I can throw them in my garbage can! I paid for the right to be an ignorant American who only cares about my petty self interests!"

What cracks me up, George, is that they equate using new mailers to being "anti-green". So, do these sellers not have recycling centers? Their ONLY option is to reuse the mailer or straight into the garbage, apparently. More so - I have a recycling option on my end, too. It's not like the new mailer I'm paying for HAS to be thrown into the garbage so that it entangles a baby seal.

It's still EXTREMELY petty. Bubble mailers can cost $.08 to around a dollar, or maybe the seller "bought" the used bubble mailers by making purchases on eBay and paying shipping (just like A_Phole is saying), or maybe he won the item for $1 less than he was willing to pay. He acts like he's paying $10 shipping for a $2 bubble mailer. We are talking a matter of CENTS. He's dinging people's stars over CENTS, and in some occasions, NOTHING, if the seller paid for the used bubble mailers. It's petty and ridiculous. It's expected from him, though. So oh well.

I reuse my old mailers in a different way. I cut them in strips that are about 1 inch wide and cut the end so it opens up. I place the toploader in that piece of mailer and insert that into the new mailer. Makes the mailer just a little thicker so it fits the DC requirements.
