The AL Central rocks. Tigers can go to the playoffs and, claim a division title, and STILL have 10 teams drafting behind them due to better records.

I'm interested to see if the Astros can get some good picks to start turning their franchise back around, and also interested to see what the Cubs do with such a high pick with their recent movement to go with the young guys rather than spending big money on FAs.

Very refreshing and weird to see Baltimore not in the top 5.

or weird to see Boston in the top 6. I knew they had a horrible season but I didn't realize until these rankings they were dead last in the AL East!

Pirates will get the #9 & 14th pick. Going to fun to see what they do at #14.

Josh Hamilton could be the only projected free agent that will garner a compensatory draft pick.

There were only two other unsigned players from the 2012 draft that will affect next year's order:
  • Teddy Stankiewicz, 75th overall selection (second round) - the Mets will be awarded the 76th overall pick in the 2013 draft
  • Alec Rash, 95th overall selection (second round) - the Phillies will be awarded the 96th overall pick in the 2013 draft

Competitive Balance Lottery Round A

1. Royals
2. Marlins (from Pirates)
3. Diamondbacks
4. Orioles
5. Reds
6. Tigers (from Marlins)

Competitive Balance Lottery Round B (after Round 2)

1. Padres
2. Indians
3. Rockies
4. Athletics
5. Brewers
6. Marlins (from Tigers)

These slots can be included in trades this offseason.

I know it's early but who are some names to watch for the Cubs at #2?

Boston #7!! :D

With identical records, what makes it so that Miami has the #6 pick?

With the lack of pitching depth in the 'Stros system, unless someone else breaks out big time, is Appel pretty much a guarantee to go to them with the first pick?

Or will they pass on him again for one of the other two big college arms?

I think he will again want too much money, so they will probably look elsewhere. It will be interesting to see if the Cubs would then grab him.
