Last week there was a thread that talked about the card companies sending "loaded" boxes to Beckett, FCB, etc. to promote their product and increase sales. These boxes yielded big hits that captured our attention and fancy. These "loaded" boxes make us run out and buy the product only to find 3-4 single color jersey cards of scrubs in your box. Some of you remember my "working man card breaks" from the old boards. After talking to some members I am bringing it back! I will list the product, source, price, hits, breakdown, and thoughts on the product. I will do two boxes to get a better taste of the product. I believe a case with a great hit still gets positive feedback for just the one card. Not the 11 other boxes that had nothing!

Here we go.......

I knew going in that this product was NOT a baseball product and it did not disappoint. First box, first insert was the Bob Gibson Autograph 4/5. Being a HOF collector I was VERY happy (I think any type of collector would be happy with the pull). Fact is the break went down hill from there. Fly Fishing Autograph? Coach's shirt? Not too keen. The Museum Collection & College Heroes inserts are fantastic looking, unfortunately the quantity (1000) will leave it at just that a good looking card with little value. When it comes to getting my money back on the box? I think even with the Gibson it might be a break even affair. Sad when a HOF autograph /5 can't even get the box price back!

Going to the second box, Ugh! What if that was the only box you bought? Although the Lee is a nice autograph but 1013 of them? Value? No. David Thompson, again the same, nice auto, no value. The Dickerson Jersey (refractor type version) is a SWEET looking card. The regular card was great looking but this ups the ante! The Jerry West jersey came out of the pack with the corner damaged. Agian if you were only getting 4 hits and 1 is bad. Not good. Idea for the cards is good, content not so much. (Poor man's version of Americana?)

$65 a box. I say "NO DEAL". These boxes will soon be found in the discount bin for around $50 a box (which I think is still too much). Even with a big HOF pull the product is STILL not worth it. What if box #2 was the only box you bought? Would you be happy????

Thoughts and comments welcome........

Next week is Prime Cuts from Atlanta Sports Cards
Stay tuned :D

4 autos (2 HOF's # less than 100, and a cut auto) and 2 jersey cards in a box I would be happy too. That's my point. If you get a hot box the product is awesome, fantastic, I love it, I want more. That was the purpose of a random break. Do you think your box is the norm? Many people would be happy if they busted a case and got your cards. But it's not the norm. I like to hear what you get from box two.

Amazing HOF Collector, I like that you show these breaks. For better or for worse.
