Can I get an amen from the congregation? Well said. Helluva ballplayer? Yes. Memorable in his time? Yes. Legendary? Not so much. Getting in on your 15th try means that you really weren't good enough to be in the HOF. The HOF should be reserved for the truly special player. Rice? No. Blyleven? No. Hodges? As much as it pains me to say it, no. Dawson? No. And the list marches on. Don Sutton? No. Gossage & Sutter? No, and no. Hanging around the league and piling up stats doesn't a HOFer make. Way too many dudes in the Hall. The not-worthy list is huge. Again, the Hall should be for elite, awe-inspiring players.DaleMurphyCollector said:Ouch! If Jim Rice can get into the hall, then there's hope for Murphy someday! Honestly, as much as I hate to admit it, neither is a Hall of Famer. Rice's election is a joke....how is it that after 15 years he all of a sudden belongs? What made this year special compared to the 14 times he didn't make it? WOW.
I'm no Rickey fan, either, but the 28 idiots that didn't vote for him should have their BBWAA credentials revoked.
