Definitely a flask of something. Or perhaps he's sipping on the little bit of Baileys in his coffee. I myself will sip on a scotch every now and then, and yes I have a bottle in my office....don't judge me! ;) Some days you just need it, knowwhutImsayin?

Sorry I was slow on the 24/#. I should have just bought it. I suck.

Brad, you got any scoop on all of these 2010 Topps Sterling cards that were just unloaded onto ebay? Does anyone think these are horrible looking? Its like one white swatch with some stupid cutouts overlaying them. I really don't like the direction that Topps is going with this crap. Plus, I got one of those "booklets" (I got the 2010 Topps Triple Threads Emerald Steal Kings with the 6 base stealers).....they don't fit in any normal pages that you can display them! And I see they are continuing the "booklet" concept in the Sterling. That booklet concept should be kicked to the curb never to return, like my Bee Gees greatest hits album that I got as a gift one year.

BTW, happy belated turkey day everybody.

Scott, I agree with the Sterling & the booklets. I am also tired of seeing the same photos from previous years. I dont know how well I will be able to control myself, but I think I maybe be done with cards after this year. 2010 is a nice even number to end with. There are just too many parallels to deal with, plus I could spend the rest of my life trying to get what I still need from previous years. I thought 2009 had a nice amount of new Rickeys. There is just so many this year. I will still go after the new oddball stuff, since its my favorite stuff to get anyway. I doubt I will stick to this, much like the diets I try  , but I will give it a shot.

 Scotch... that's a good explanation. It would explain why each sip is so long and drawn out. I had to  yesterday, right as I was leaving for lunch he was walking to his desk with a bowl of soup. I didn't hang around to hear it. But OMG!!!! It's bright and early, and I just heard my first sluuuuuuuurrrrrrrppppppppp of the day. It's great over here by the bathroom (I'm sure you all remember that). This has been hanging in my cube ever since...

Well, I have a little confession. I like the books. They are tough to display, but you can hook up a Frankensteinian setup with a couple top loaders and a couple team bags. The couple I have are just in a team bag folded up. I don't really have anybody to show them off to anyway, so... no big deal. CC has had cards like this for years now, but the problem is he's always shown with 5 other players, usually 5 other Aces, so they are really pricey. They have a kick ass one with 6 Indians, the first jersey says "THE" real small, and the rest spell T-R-I-B-E. Only thing is, I could never afford one. Or I should say, they always sell for more than I'm willing to spend. Some of the nices cards are books like these!

Scott, I always pictured you an AC/DC guy, not a Bee Gees guy.

I'm NOT a Bee Gees fan, that's why I kicked it to the curb. I am an AC/DC guy. Actually, I grew up a huge Kiss fan. They've turned the whole merchandising thing into a huge embarrassment, and Gene Simmons has gotten utterly ridiculous. But, for some reason I still love their music. Even met them once (Gene Simmons is a TALL dude even without boots on).

Ryan/Milton, we're going to have to take that stapler away from you. That nice Swingline stapler. (classic movie...love Mike Judge stuff).

And, I guess I have to admit those "booklet" cards you show are pretty cool (except, as a Phillies fan...the one with Larry Jones turns my stomach a little). I agree with Ken...stop recycling pics. I guess Topps pretty much owns the market now. They can pump out whatever fluff they want, like manufactured hat and bat cards (still lame in my opinion although some of you like them). Maybe I should cut up some of the Rickey stuff I have (or even just random A's jerseys) and start making my own cards like Famous Fabrics.

My sweet little girlfriend has an awesome Bee Gees story... when her and her siblings would fight, her mom would go to the stereo and crank the Bee Gees. It would empty out the house quickly and efficiently. I got an awesome picture of a jeep in Colorado Springs with the license plate "BEEGEES". I see it around town and have to laugh.

I've always been a Pink Floyd guy myself...

Topps recycling pictures is lame, especially since they have like 25 years worth of pictures to choose from. I do think their new monopoly has allowed them to loaf, but I think even if all 4 companies were still cranking stuff out Topps would still be too lazy to find pics they haven't used before. *sigh*

Scott, Kiss had some great records in the 70's. The few times I watch Genes show on tv, I find him to be funny. I know he is so full of himself, but he seems to be a likable guy. I usually hate people like that.

Ryan, what is up with the collection? I was interested in buying a few cards off of you (#/12) ;) . I have a few 24's too.

Thanks for the heads up. This was actually just on eBay with a starting price of $400 and a BIN of $500, so a BIT pricey. I agree that $200-$250 might be a little more reasonable.
Definitely pricey, but major drool anyway.

So, after 6 hours of computer surgery at home, my new Mac is all sync'd up with my old (now large paperweight) computer. Man, this thing is fast! Unfortunately, the old computer didn't have firewire or USB 2 ports, so I had to use the old ethernet wire to transfer data. Now I have my Rickey's back and my lists and all the good stuff, and can now start to upload pics of my new acquisitions! Also, I remodeled my office, took the room down to bare subfloor (no more god-awful gold shag, circa 1974) added fresh paint, new floor board trim and new crown molding. Why am I telling you this? Because now I have my 5' glass display case for my Rickeys up, and on the bottom shelf, behind a couple of sports impressions figurines, is the well traveled, much loved "box". It has a permanent home, and a place of honor now. When I figure out some of this new iLife stuff (way ahead of where I was on my old steed) I'll get some good shots cropped and posted for you guys to see. Heck, I'm still getting used to the new "magic mouse". Give me time. No comments from you Ryan. :D

Hey, I accidentally just won two auctions for the same card (DOH!). Now I'll have two of 2010 Topps Sterling #58 Base #/250 (A's). So if anyone has an extra of the other base card (#57 - Yankees), and wants to trade, let me know.

Evidently, I also won two of these accidentally (I really gotta watch my bidding):

2010 Topps Triple Threads Relic Combos Emerald #TTRC-17 (15/18) (16/18) (Speed Demons, white mesh swatch for C. Crawford, gray swatch for Rickey, bat swatch for J. Ellsbury)

So if anyone is interested in a trade, let me know what you've got.

Scott, I need the A's Sterling. I have a few thing you may need. I did a major cleaning out and found a few gems.
