I don't recall ever seeing one of those. Good work Brad on identifying that odd ball card. It was driving me crazy, and I was about to start looking through the collection. Seriously.

Any of you other clowns ever seen this? I have never heard of this until I saw it in the 90's thread. I'll be picking it up later this week (damn bi-weekly pay checks).

Yeah, I've got one, picked it up on eBay about 10 years ago. Neat oversized "card" that adds something a little different to the collection. They aren't listed very often, but even when they are, they don't typically sell for much.

The Twins were selling the Pucketts at Target Field and the pro shops last year for $3; they had a shatload of them. I'm not sure if they still had them this year or not.

I'm getting it from TP (guy I copied pic from). I had never seen or knew about it before. He has a total player list in set if anyone needs it. I'll be getting it for $7.50 dlvd. Which I think is fair.

Print run was between 2000 and 50,000 for each so maybe Puckett was at the upper end of production?

Maybe they found a ton of them in bowels of the Metrodome when they moved. I went through a big pile of them at Target Field to find a couple Pucketts that hadn't been dinged up. It seemed weird that they just popped up in 2010.

So I don't recall this over the last 100+ pages. Just curious everyones name, location, age and what got you started collecting Rickey?

Brian, Iowa City for the past 2 years. Ohio for the 26 before that. I'm 28 and started collecting Rickey when I was about 8-10. I started organizing my cards by players and I had the most of Rickey. It escalted from there to an obsession.

Became obsessed with Rickey in 85 when he came to the Yankees. Should have been the MVP that year. I Started seriously collecting cards in 86 and stopped around 89 to strictly focus on Henderson. I have met a lot of great player collectors over the years and made a ton of great connections the old school way with letters and phone calls. I still talk to some of them to this day. SCD & Baseballl Card News were the best back then and the shows were great too. I also met fellow Henderson crazies and good friends like Dave, George, Brad, Ryan, Larry, Randy, Scott, Bob, & others. I think the first time I talked to Dave, we made a deal that included probably 30+ items. Over the years, I probably wasted ungodly amounts of money, but its been fun. I just wish they would stop making cards of him already.

Ah, one of the fun pages lost to the "other" sites that we miss.

Who the heck are we to collect such a player as Henderson? What gives us the right? Well, in 1980, I was in the Oakland Coliseum sitting along the third base line down in left field. I was 7 years old, and loved the A's. Reggie Jackson, Joe Rudi, Catfish Hunter, and this kid that every time he ran in the outfield, his hat fell off of his 'fro. He was fast as heck and threw with his left hand and batted right. Talk about cool. As I said, I was in the seats by left field, and for the last few innings, my mother had been goading me to call to "Mr. Henderson" to throw me a ball. About the 6th inning I worked up the nerve and in a squeaky voice called to Mr. Henderson to please throw me a ball. After warm-ups, he turned to my section and threw a ball my way... Oh joy! He heard me, he threw a ball my way!!! A little girl a row in front of me caught it though, and my heart sank. But, Mr. Henderson shrugged, smiled and gave me a wave. Since then I have been enamored with the speedster that wore 35 and 24, and when I really found out what baseball cards were, he was always prominent. After collecting for some years, I took all of my A's cards out of binders, (just too many) and focused on Mcgwire, Canseco and Henderson. I stopped with Canseco around 1991 or so, and Mcgwire in 1998 when his cards went through the roof. But Henderson was always #1 and to this day, I couldn't imagine a better player to collect. A HOF caliber player from the get-go, fast, fun, and made the game more interesting. Hot dog, show-off, arrogant, whatever you want to call him, I will always call him the greatest.

My name is Larry from Rohnert Park, California, I am 38 years old and I collect Rickey Henderson cards.

Follow up to the question about who I am and my interest in Rickey. My name is John and I'm 34 and really started my interest in Rickey in 1986 or so when he went to the Yankees. The first card i ever bought by itself was a 1985 topps henderson and then i just started to like him. My interest really surged during his pursuit for 939. I would cut out all the newspaper clippings, i would even watch baseball tonight and his games just to tape his every at bat and wait for hours to see the rolaids commercial. Taping with VHS at the right moment was no easy task. Just followed him ever since.

By the way, i put a few 1/1's on ebay (Rickey5191) that i am taking offers on.
