So I don't recall this over the last 100+ pages. Just curious everyones name, location, age and what got you started collecting Rickey?

Brian, Iowa City for the past 2 years. Ohio for the 26 before that. I'm 28 and started collecting Rickey when I was about 8-10. I started organizing my cards by players and I had the most of Rickey. It escalted from there to an obsession.

So my name is Jeremy and I live in Richmond Va I'm 31 and I have collected Rickey cards for as long as I can remember. I have always just collected Rickey cards. I don't remember when that first moment was but I just remember wanting to be like him when I was playing little league. I stopped collecting when the 90's got out of control and started collecting again about 5 years ago.

Thats what I was thinking Ryan. Rickeyaholics Anonymous.

I have 5-6 #24 for you. Lets make a deal.

Brad, where do we stand on our deal for the ticket?

Well, I have the ticket, and that's about it, lol! Had we started working on a deal? What was I getting, lol!

As for Ryan, you need to get in line! You got the last trade, I'm still waiting on my turn :)

I leave for a few days and everyone gets chatty! My name is Brad, I'm 31, and live in Sacramento (this really does sound like a Rickey AA meeting!) I started collecting in 1987 when I pulled a Rickey Turn Back the Clock from 1987 Topps. I got the pack as a prize at a birthday party, and it was my first ever pack of baseball cards. The Rickey card was my favorite from the pack, and the rest you can say is history! I stopped collecting in 2000 (Pacific Prism and all it's parallels did me in), and started up again in 2008 once I started thinking about his HOF induction. I regret missing out on all the crazy years from 2001-2007, but his cards were just too expensive for me at the time, and there were so many of them!!

My name's Ryan, and I'm 34. I'm a slacker. And I live in Colorado Springs.

Really, I know I suck. But I have just fallen in love with this chick. It takes up nearly all of my time, yeah. We sure do have fun though. I've taken her to the zoo 3 times, and the aquarium twice, and she's only 2 years old. I'm trying to do what my dad never seemed to have time to do, spend time with my kid. There is a nice park near here that we have really gotten to know and love, that takes up a few hours a week, but we've really been hitting it lately because winter is coming.

I have been thinking about trading lately though. Because I've been reading this thread. :? And it makes me feel guilty. The good news is, if we don't get these trades done by the end of the year, I should have tons of free time next year. I don't think I'll have my job after December 30. And it's not because I spend all day on FCB or anything... I do that because there really isn't any work to do here. And that's why we won't be here next year. Sigh. I probably should just bring in a stack of cards and just trade here at work. I just don't want my co-workers to say to themselves next year "well no wonder they're gone, his assistant just sat there and played with baseball cards." This week would be a great week to do it, since although we are about to be out of jobs, my boss thought it was a good time to take another week long vacation... his 4th this year. So yeah... I better get back to slacking. I'm holding down the office here, and with only one of us to slack, there is a lot of slacking to do. ... or maybe....

Sorry Ryan. That's why I try not to complain about aorking 60+ hours a week. It gets old, but I have a job and others aren't fortunate. Some are lazy and don't try, but people like you, are employed and are let go. It really sucks. On a positive note, is good to hear about everyone. I knew some basics, and used to have a list. Maybe I'll start another.

Hey all, figure I'll get with it and post.

Name is Neil, live in MA. Been collecting Rickey since the 5th grade (87). Traded some 1986 Topps football cards stack for stack with a kid with 1980 Topps baseball. I knew I had Marino in the stack and he had a Yaz on top. Looking through them I found what started this craze for me! I couldn't believe that in the bottom of that rubber banded stack was a Henderson RC. I had been to a few card shops as a kid, and followed baseball. I felt bad and asked him if he wanted it back the next day. He declined, said he was more than happy with the Marino and Warren Moon he got in return. I never looked back. Been after Rickey since then. Took a break in 97, that lasted until 2001. Bought about 25 cards on Ebay then, then took another hiatus until 2006. Have dabbled hard, and then let up, recurring cycle for me. I honestly hate all the new offerings the last 3 years. I want to finish off the back end more than getting laced by the Topps offerings. I'm happy to see him in product, but it's the same pictures from 10-20yrs ago.

Ryan, I've got 3 24's as well. If you got time hit me up.

Man Ryan, now I really feel bad about giving you a hard time :). My part of the trade is easy, yours actually involves some work. I definitely understand where you're coming from regarding time with your daughter, spend as much time with her as possible!

I'm working on finishing up my MBA (after 4 years I'll be done in the Spring), and having to go to class until 9pm two nights a week is hard on everyone! I haven't spent much time on the collection at lately, and anything I have picked up in the last few months is just sitting in a big pile. Long story short, there are definitely priorities, the #24s aren't going anywhere.

You shouldn't feel bad, I deserve a hard time!

I just hope you guys are keeping your eyes on ebay for jersey # cards. When Larry posted his recent maildays, that was the first time I saw the new TTT cards. I Hadn't looked at ebay in so long I didn't even know they existed.

I did make some ebay purchases recently. An awesome stuffed animal and I had to replace lil Néne's Laurie Berkner DVD because she loves it so much that it's trashed now. It was a hand-me-down anyway, so it was pretty trashed when we got it. Now we'll have the CD too, so we can listen to those catchy songs in the car too! When I say catchy, I mean... I sit here at work singing little kids songs and can't get them out of my head.

Went through a real dry spell. Too many nice cards getting by for hundreds of dollars each. Used to be $50 dollar cards back in the day... ::facepalm::

The weirdest thing happened. She used to watch it a bunch, but she couldn't speak at the time. Then the disc started skipping on just about every song, and we quit watching it. Then she learned to speak, and she had all of those songs memorized. Isn't that weird? I thought it was. I think the reason she started talking was so she could sing "moon moon moon"! She is totally and completely fascinated with the moon. Have you ever noticed how often the moon is still in the sky during the day? Renée has tought me all about it. She'll say "moon!" and point to the sky and I'm like "what are you crazy? it's almost noon!" and then I look up and BAM, there it is. woah, weird. I'm not sure how the moon works exactly, it's all over the place. We have to hunt for it every night, she insists and never forgets. And it's fascinating, that moon. I've learned so much about it in the last few months. Weird, I never cared to put any thought into the moon before, even when I worked the graveyard shift. But lil Né has me inspired. As mentioned earlier in the thread, I'm 34... think it's too late to start becoming an astrophysicist? :ugeek: I'm really excited for when she's old enough for a telescope, which should be soon. Right now anything similar to a baseball bat gets swung like a bat while she cries "here comes the pitch... and the swing... HOME RUN!!!" and then she turns around......... (that was a little Laurie Berkner for you big kids who don't listen to the kiddie music.)

I'll have to keep my eye out for the Disney disc. There are a couple on ebay but they are $10 for a single CD... I'm just too cheap. I got the Berkner DVD+CD for like $6. Very pleasing.

Great mail day Larry, and thanks for posting it. It's the only mail days I get these days. When you post yours. Rickeys are selling for hundreds instead of 50? I thought the economy was supposed to be bad! Maybe it's time for this po' boy to start sellin' some Rickeys.

Sellers have jacked their prices and asking prices to try to make more money due to **** economy. Sucks, because we are all used to the deals that eBay started with. That, added to all the "set" collectors drive prices higher than what we are used to or like.

That's what he meant? Just because TWolves says it's a $120 card doesn't mean it's worth more than $17. I hate that guy.
