Just saw this on ESPN. He lived in the town I am in the process of moving too, I sat right next to him at a spring training game. Rest in Peace.

Always sad to lose another link to the glory days. I learned a little about Dom reading "Teammates" last year. Seemed like a good human being. RIP

Unfortunately, he lived in the shadow of his brother.

RIP Dom.

When he signed my copy of The Teammates TTM he accidently put a little finger dab on his sig. I hardly even notice it, but he felt bad enough that he took the time to write me a very nice apology note. That told me all I need to know about the person he was.

In 1950, Dom Dimaggio led the AL with 15 stolen bases. It is the smallest total in MLB history for the league leader.

He also paced the AL in triples with 11 that year.

A buddy of mine just sent me this quote-

"If a bat can catch its prey by just using sound waves, then surely I can catch a baseball with four eyes."

Very sad day indeed, RIP Dom. :(

And yes, The Teammates is my all time favorite book....he seemed like a great person [and one hell of a ballplayer].

RIP

I sent him a donation to get a few pictures signed a few years ago. He returned my donation, signed my pictures, and wrote me a short note.
