Yanks infielder and ROY in 51. My Dad used to tell me he was Stengel's pet and could do no wrong. His autograph
card was the first ever I pulled in topps heritage and I was hooked ever since. Topps managed to put him in
2009 heritage, which represented his last card. He would hit a ball off of Herb Score that ended the pitchers
career. What most people don't know is that Gil was hit in the ear with a ball a few years before that and later
on lost hearing in both ears and would have to retire after only 10 years.
