Re: RIP IT OR DONT RIP IT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

But you are looking at more than $100 for that card. Like people said, probably closer to 200 or 300.

So ask yourself, if you bought an $80 box and someone offer you $250, would you take it?

So what am I looking at if I sell...

Maybe if I had a value in mind it would make it easier.
I keep telling myself "you buy boxes hoping for a big hit".
Isn't the rip card like buying a $80 box of cards without all the singles??

If you bought a box for $80 and someone offer you $100 for it sealed would you sell it or take the chance and break the box yourself???

I appreciate all the responses and thought on the topic. I like to hear everyones thoughts and debates.

Last year a Delmon Young /10 sold for something like $800. That should give you some perspective.

I can't understand why an insert /10 of a player without an auto or gameused would sell that high. Does the rip's /10 have a better chance at a hit inside. Then maybe.

Thanks to all the inputs I think I will take the sound advice and keep it sealed and put it up for auction. That is if I can keep the break it demons away till Sunday!

It doesn't matter what the rip card is numbered to or who it is of. But the reason they sell for so much is A&G is a huge set collector set. So being there is only 10 of them, as well as if there hasn't been one on eBay yet. I would probably put it up for 500 BIN/BO, and see what happens.

I pulled a silk last year of Kelly Johnson, and sold it for a Best Offer of 80 within a hour of listing it. Most of the silk completed auctions, including Ryan Howard, David Wright and Bigfoot (the truck), sold for less than 50.

Re: RIP IT OR DONT RIP IT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

The reason /10 sell so high is that master set collectors compete for those cards like crazy. Knowing that half of them probably get ripped before they ever see ebay, guys going for the whole rip card run have maybe one or two chances to land one of those of a particular player. They'll go as high as they can afford.

Rip then sell 8-)

I'm sure there's somebody out there who would still rather have the ripped /10 than no card at all...

But really, I'd probably sell it and buy something nice for the PC.

Granted, it was a BIN, so who knows how high it may have gone....

Anyhow, when you bought the box, visions of Red Ink Autos and 1/1 sketches were dancing in your head (don't deny it!)...you pulled 2 cheap GU cards and this one rip card /10. The rip card is your ticket to the Red Auto or 1/1 sketch. That's EXACTLY what you bought the box hoping for. When you find out that you beat the odds tremendously by pulling a rip (a rip /10 no less), and then just sell it, it somewhat defeats the purpose of buying the box in the first place.

However, if you could use the money, it could probably sell for 200 or so I'd guess.

Good luck either way....I'd be ripping that sucker though! :D

Then again, here's a completed listing. Fielder is a much more popular player too....

If you ebay it, you have to let it ride at auction. Now is the time to sell due to the recent release and if you miss your bubble by wasting time with BIN/BO, you'll be costing yourself some coin.

The way I look at it, is that its a wrapper. The card is ripped. $75 is fair. Like the above poster said Fielder sealed sold only for a little more (as well as a Granderson sealed.) Made my box back on a literally a ripped card and have a Bay that is only available in the rip cards so that should do good also.
No harm no foul. Thats why I break wax. Cant catch the big one if you never through the hook in.

I think you did quite well but who in their right mind would pay that much for a ripped card? Makes me wonder if they fully understood that it was already ripped and there was no mini inside.

If they don't, they can't read. And there is no way they will win an "item not as described" complaint.

Yes, but how many times have there been threads where people have made that mistake? Probably dozens. The title doesn't indicate that it is ripped but it is there in the description. You know how ebay usually sides with the buyer. I wish the best for the seller and OP and hope it doesn't go that way.
