What boxes were these card inserted in? How hard was it to pull a red?
Spread out in different Donruss products throughout 1998.
Your chances are Zip to Nill.
Good Luck if you decide to try your luck at the Powerball.

2 retractions from the same buyer definitely raises some red flags, that just wouldn't happen on a normal listing, at least I wouldn't think so. Maybe the seller is just "protecting his investment". Hmmm, no matter what, a great card that would have done well on its own or with help.

It's probably time I step in...

Yes there have been two retractions from the same guy. His first was maybe acceptable as he claimed to have put in too high of a bid and then retracted it. I didn't think anything of it due to the fact that he rebid. The second claims he couldn't contact the seller which is complete BS.

I have sent an email to the member this morning explaining that he is making it look like the card is being shilled (which I can promise it isn't) and I have not yet received any sort of reasoning.

I know it looks bad, but I felt compelled to come in and state the facts... I honestly didn't want anyone to know that it is my auction. I don't think there is anything else I can do, but block the bidder (when/if he responds to my email). Good luck to those bidding and if anyone has any other ideas on how to deal with this guy throw them at me

Thanks

Definitely block that guy then. The last guy I would want to win a big card like that would be someone so indecisive he has to cancel his bid twice. Once, understandable, twice, not so much. He'd win it, pay you, then change his mind or "talk to his wife" and dispute it later on down the road. Not worth the hassle.

Any guesses to final sell price? Ends in about 2 1/2 hours. I'm excited to the final hammer.

How would a authentic ripken signature with iron clad coa effect the card? Would it detract from it? Im contemplating that scenerio.
Make it worth about $100.

Umm . . . . OUCH! That would drastically hurt it in my opinion. There is really no good reason to have that type of card signed. Rookie, I can understand. A super rare, not to mention high gloss card like the Crusade, not so much.

Once upon a time I considered the idea of getting an extra orange minor league Ripken to get signed. After having a conversation with another Ripken collector I changed my mind. The value of the crusade is in the scarcity of the card, not the sig that could be added later.

As far as the final price it might sound crazy to some but I would not be stunned to see it knock on the door of $2K. That card is on the short list of a ton of people. With the low production you have to acknowledge that if you pass on it now you may wait years to see another copy auctioned. Many will pay more now to avoid the regret later.

It might close at a little more than my Gwynn...

Ripkens go for about double Gwynn, so this Ripken may go for about $260... :D
(sorry, Ripken guys, but I do like to rub it in a little! :D ) Good luck to all of you going for it!

Couldn't have said it better myself. I passed on a Will Clark 1 when I was in college, about 1998 or 1999, shortly after it came out. It took me 10 more years of searching and finally knocked it off my need list in 2009 (from a fellow Clark fan). It took 10 more years and a Will Clark collector to sell his collection before I got mine. Wasn't gonna let it happen again.

Hmm $878.88.... someone should have bid $10 more to make it $888.88, seems more appropriate for Ripken
