I don't even know how people abandoned ship on him after the spitting incident. We have seen far worse happen on the field.

I feel bad for Robbie. My opinion of him hasn't changed at all. I sort of respect him more.

Uhm....I think it has to do with the allegation that he either hid or refused to acknowledge his HIV status with his girlfriend.

I agree with that. But from the article, it sounds like he hid his HIV status and insisted on having unprotected sex, and that is why she is suing him. That is exactly why I said I would lose all respect for him. The woman could be on the pill , so birth control might not have been an issue.

I would hate to hear of anyone being sick with this disease. I honestly never suspected Alomar of hiding his interests I remember watching him, Sandy, and Carlos Baerga all playing in the minors when I was a kid. Ironically the team name was the Charleston Rainbows. Single A Padres team in the 80's.

Billy Bean came out (and wrote a very interesting book about it) but he doesn't have nearly the impact that Roberto Alomar would. While steroids is destroying baseball's rep it would be good to get the homosexual stigma out of the way too. It is sad when basketball beats you to the punch.
