So kinda confused and need a bit of assistance. I have collected all of the Topps Cracker Jack Autos and I have never read about, heard or, seen mention of Roger Clemens in the set until last week. First one auction pops and then a second. Clearly they are different cards.

IMHO I think the cards are BS since they were A). never in the checklist and B). the sig appears different than other 2004 Roger Clemens autos and C). both auction are using hidden bidder IDs D). One is signed in Blue and the other in Black.

Thoughts? Ideas?

I have a Cliff Floyd auto from this set and clearly there is a "Box" where the auto is ....That is not the case with the cards in those auctions...

Signing boxes were on the Secret Surprise set; if the Roger were made it would have been like this Castillo and printed w/o a signing box.

For what its worth, I think they're both in blue ink, just one with a bad scanner. Could this be something Topps had sitting around that they sent out as replacements?

Here is a 2004 auto which is the year the CJ card "might" be from.

I'm not sure where they came from, but comparing them to a sticker auto does not help. The sticker could have been signed 2002 for all we know. If the auto is fake then it is a really good one. The Topps replacement idea could be plausible.

it would be interesting to see a scan of the back of the card to see if it has the auto serial # sticker...

Considering the hologram can be removed from any old chrome card with zero evidence of tampering its kind of a moot point.

Wouldn't the stickers become damaged/worn/wrinkled if someone tried to peel them off the back of another card?I always liked those Cracker Jack cards, wish Topps would have continued them.

Did you contact Topps?

Or perhaps the seller to ask where they came from?

I am not saying this card is real or fake but if you noticed 99% of the fake topps originals buybacks have holograms.

Most of those where taken from old worthless autographs (mostly chrome where the backs are glossy and easily removed) then placed on a forged autograph card, and finally placed back in the topps originals 1 touch where the topps clear hologram is placed back on (not tamper resistant).

His completed Americana autos are not right (weren't these either stamped or embossed?) and he has several other, often faked autos mixed within some good stuff in the completed section. I would be skeptical if you've followed these cards and they just mysteriously pop up now.

With all the AUTO's I have of Clemens .... NONE look like the CrackerJack auto's. These cards all the sudden have come out of hiding. I would shy away from them. Check out my bucket to see. they look like the Clemens auto in this thread.
