@bongo - nice pickups!

@phillyfan - interesting. What's Mathieson been up to this year? There were rumblings that he may be a closer in the making.

At this point, I can honestly say that I'm friends with Scott. I talk to him every few days... he's not in the highest of spirits. There are some things I can't get into, but we have 3 guys in the bullpen on the DL - Lidge, Romero, and Contreras. The organization apparently has crushes on Kendrick and Herndon, and won't send them down/release them. Manuel aparently has a mancrush on Mike Stutes as well... so when Lidge went down, Herndon got the job; Romero went down, Zagurski went up (makes sense, both are lefties) and the biggest hope for Scott was when Contreras went down... they called up Stutes. Later that night, Scott gave up 3 runs. I haven't talked to him about it, and he probably wouldn't admit it, but I have to believe it was a crushing blow for him not to be called up. Stutes has looked good, but not overpowering.

AS for what they're doing with Scott... he doesn't know, I don't know. He's pitched in the "Durbin" 6-7 inning role, then he closed a game (he was the closer last year), then he pithced innings 3-5 to clean up for Drew Carpenter, then he's back in the 7th.

I question this organization's management sometimes. ANd I guess I'm just sad for my friend.

Good inside insight Jeff - thanks. If I were the GM..... Anyway, I don't see why Herndon is still on the roster. Last year he was Rule 5 right? Or maybe that was Baez. Anyway, where I was going with that is if he was Rule 5 last year then they had to keep him, but they sure don't have to this year.

Stutes looked good, but there are certainly other pitchers that deserve a chance. And what better time to try them out - in April before the season even starts rolling - there's very little downside and a whole lotta upside if you end up discovering that some kid you thought was decent ends up going from good to great and performs even better under the pressure of the big leagues.

Back to me being the GM.... yeah, let's make Contreras the closer and then when he pitches *gasp* 3 games in a row he ends up on the DL because he is ancient. I think everybody is hesitant on Madson because the human mind tends to remember the very bad and ugly over the good. Yes Madson has blown up a few times, but he's also saved a lot of his chances and should be given another shot. I don't get it. Hopefully he can prove himself now that Contreras is out.

As for Kendrick, he's been less than underwhelming in his few appearances this year - again, not sure why somebody else doesn't deserve a shot.

Keep us posted as you have more updates. Hopefully Scott keeps on doing what he does - you have to hope that eventually good performance gets rewarded.

Well, he pitched a 2 hit, 2 K, 0 run 9th inning tonight in a 7-2 loss...

Hopefully Trevor may starts to perform at the High A level and justify the need for me to scan what I have...

His start yesterday was a thing of beauty. Now for some consistency...

It certainly may help bring some more of the high end stuff out and on to ebay.

I'm not a Phillies fan, but I just got this in the mail for obvious reasons:

I just pulled two prospect 1/1s from the same box of Pro Debut--Zeid auto and Rupp red. If anyone's interested, LMK (not sure, I'm thinking about keeping them for my PC).
