Phillies just placed him on the DL with a lay strain. Expected to miss 6 to 8 weeks. Just glad that it's not something structural with his shoulder.

Hate to see a great of our time go down like that. I hope my Fish take advantage while he's gone because when Roy comes back he'll be that much more focused and nasty.

This is a labrum or rotator cuff tear I am sure, this is exactly what they diagnosed me and I had a labrum tear on my non-throwing shoulder. I sure hope he will be fine, he is great for baseball.

Sucks for Roy.......maybe this will allow Phily will not push Howard and shoot for his return in 2013.

Ouch....hate to see that. I've always liked Halladay. Hopefully it's a quick recovery. Looks like the Phillies should have ponied up some cash for Oswalt!

8 weeks means he comes back just before the trading deadline. If the Phillies are out of it by then, I expect them to trade Cole Hamels. Hamels is set to become a free agent in the offseason, he is having a great year (translation: higher trade value), and the Phillies' farm system has been depleted by their trades in the past few years. Trading Hamels could get them some decent prospects for a player who isn't likely to be in Philadelphia next year anyway.
