Had he issued this last year instead of trying to destroy a person doing their job he would be on my list of good guys. Sadly this is because MLB had proof and he knew it. This "apology" is a farce and anyone who buys it is a moron.
Of course this is damage control - but that doesn't make it all BS.
He is only taking full responsibility because he was caught. If the MLB didn't have so much on him.... he never would have changed his tune.
I would like MLB to verify that they never showed him any of their evidence. If that's true, it moves the needle slightly for me.
The only thing I like about this statement is that it basically ties up the storyline. All questions have basically been answered. He can get boo'd for the rest of his career, but the issue is basically settled; that's good for the rest of the Milwaukee organization and players.
He probably should have apologized for calling Dino an anti-Semite (ESPN, Yahoo Sports).
So you think he is telling the truth now?
I read the statement and first off let me say dude had a great writer. And he should have apologized little bit more to the guy threw under the bus. And welcome the lawsuit that will follow, I'm sure.
But the most thing the statement I thought it lacked was it should have said at the end.
"For all the things mentioned above and for my actions I talk full responsibly. And this is why I'm will be retiring from Baseball effective immediately".
Anyhing short of that is a joke to all of Baseball and It's fans.
If he would have just apologized immediately, from the heart without a script obviously written and edited by PR people, fans would forgive him much easier.
