I have this scanner.

It's good, but the scans of slabs don't come out to clear. You need CCD to scan slabs with resolution and clear pictures.

Any scans of slabs as examples?

These are two of the better slab scans using that scanner. If want slabs to be crystal clear and the flip to be readable, you need a CCD type scanner.

Are you using the Canon program to scan or are you using Irfanview, etc.? What dpi do you scan @? Do you do anything to the scans after- sharpen etc.? Seems like when I use Irfanview, my slab scans come out much better on my 4400f. However, my 4400f needs replacing soon (scratches galore), so I figure this is a decent/cheap replacement.

I use the CanoScan software they give you with it. It's a very easy program to use. I don't touch up any of my scans, simply because it's time consuming. The most I do is play around with the background colors I scan on, to see what makes them look better.

I scan at 400-600DPI usually.

For slabs, the CanonScan 4400F is the one to get. Many board members use that.

As for this scanner, this was such a great deal that I bought one also. Not worried about slabs (yet) but my CanoScan LiDE 35 is getting a bit old sadly.
