I also posted this on the vintage board, but I don't think the football crowd gets over there too much. If anyone here is into vintage football, head on over there and show off your stuff!

Got bored last night, so I fired up the ol' scanner. Since I've mostly concentrated on my baseball collection, I'd forgotten how cool my old Rams are. Can't wait to get some more done.

'48 Leaf > '48 Bowman.

1950 Bowman, Greatest Set Ever.

I love vintage and that's a pretty impressive collection.

just finished scanning what I've got of each - '48 Leaf, not much.

I agree, 1950 Bowman is a stunning set, as is the '51.

I picked up the Younger tonight, and am hoping to close out the set with the Fears very soon.

Storming Norman is a stupid expensive card from that set but you should be able get a Hirsch of that quality on the cheap. I've seen a few close around their opening bids of 1-5 dollars.

Yah man, these sets are awesome and jam-packed with value.

50 and 52 are stupid expensive, but '51 in my opinion is the most affordable set to put together if you want an old-timey set at a great price.

Van Brocklin is the only VERY expensive card and Tom Landry is pretty pricey, but you can get guys like Em Tunnell for cheeeeap.

You can put together a very respectable '51 set for about... 550-600ish (if you get lucky and someone has a bunch for sale)?

You can put together the key cards from '50 in beat up condition for a very fair price too.

I'm very surprised more people haven't put this stuff together.

Re: Scanning my Rams collection: next up, 1952 Bowman Small

been a long time since I've been able to update this thread.

for $5 I couldn't resist knocking this off of my wantlist. It's the ultra-rare "completely encased with tape" variation.

and yes, the **** is also encased.

'52 Bowman Small Bob Waterfield - I haven't mixed it in with the rest of the team set yet. I think I'll wait until I nail down Robustelli to finish up the set.
