Our fearless leader, CGilmo has offered up a $25 eBay gift certificate, and tasked me with coming up with a contest. I came up with a scavenger hunt that should be fun, and offer up a few laughs.

Rules:
1) One entry per person.
2) Contest opens after this thread has been posted, contest closes Sunday, February 27 at 2 PM Eastern.
3) There are ten items to 'find' in this contest. Each one is worth 1 - 5 points, and scoring will be done by myself and G $MONEY$. That means a more creative / funny entry will be worth more than on ethat just fits the criteria. Judges decisions are final.
4) You cannot post an identical entry to a previous entry. This will be unlikely, but I am putting it out there anyways.
5) You can edit your post up until the end of the contest, but we will be monitoring to see if you just edit your post to use the cards another user posted at a later time. So, you can leave a few blanks while you are looking, but don't cheat and only look in this thread.

The Contest:
Post a scan of a hockey card which meets each of the following criteria (there should be 10 cards total). Originality will be rewarded, so put some time into it, and have some fun. You do not need to own the cards you are posting.

1) A card featuring epic facial hair.

2) A card featuring funny looking / strange fans in the background.

3) A card featuring a superstar cameo (ie a superstar is pictured on a card, but it is not his card).

4) A card featuring an ad for a fast food restaraunt on the boards.

5) A card featuring a hockey player wearing a baseball cap (+1 if the cap is for a team other than the team he plays for at the time of the card)

6) A card that shows a jersey with the logos of two different teams (not airbrushed in any way).

7) A card where a player is posing for the camera.

8) A card where the player is wearing dress pants.

9) A card where a goalie is using a MONTREAL stick.

10) A card where the player is using skate laces as a belt for his hockey pants.

BONUS (+5): A card where a player is using a Branches hockey stick.

Unfortunately, I'm most likely unable to compile a full list for you all, as I'm getting married on Saturday. I'll post what I have, for you all to enjoy anyways! Good luck to all entries!

I wasn't exactly sure what that meant either.

Yeah me neither. I was assuming its just ONE jersey, with 2 different teams? I'm not sure though, we will need Hamiltonian to clarify

One jersey, with patches from two different teams. As a hint: check out the most recent product I posted a break for.

I should have made that more clear - no penalty for those who want to go back and change what they have already posted.

Am I allowed to change the cards I've posted already?

Like, if I found a card that I like better than the one I originally submitted (and one that I think will give me a greater chance of winning?)

Thank you,

Sal

Absolutely, entries aren't final until the deadline, I just didn't want people changing to a card someone had already posted.

Sunday is February 28.

Saturday (today) is February 27.

So, which day does the contest close?

So, this is over then? Any word on the scoring for this contest :D

Hey puck junk,

Thehamiltonian must be busy today, but yeah this contest is over and done. We should be able to post the contest winner in the next couple days (or sooner). Some great entries and someone is gonna make themselves an easy $25 on ebay :D

I thought this year was a leap year. It was done Sunday. Everything is time stamped, so no worries. Between the gold medal game and the unfortunate working Monday that followed I haven't had time to score everything yet, but it will get done in the next couple of days.

Here's the final scores. It was fun checking out the cards you guys came up with. Most of them were pretty self-explanatory, but I wanted to see if anyone could find a card featuring a Branches stick because that is what I used when I played (old school wood, couldn't afford an aluminum one).

cmixer: 45
Shane: 29 (solid considering the missing cards - congrats on the wedding!)
Puck Junk: 53
mstng: 51

I have breakdowns if you guys want them, the bonus question put the last two over the top, and the facial hair was the tipping point. Lanny is amazing, but the epic neard (neck beard) of Gary Smith just can't be matched. Plus it looks like its all connected.
