What ARod does doesn't bother me because he isn't the one bringing it to light and shoving it down my throat. It's the sports writers that are trying to bring him down by bringing his dirty laundy to the public.

But Schilling has never been able to keep his mouth shut in the press and whatnot. I just personally don't like him for that. Because he's made the conscience effort to put himself out in the public forum and say ridiculous things. I hate him for the same reason some of you hate me,  But I just talk on a few internet message boards to a few people who are constant members. He puts his stuff out there on a much larger scale ot douchiness.

I make no sense, I know,

Schilling has a personal blog for fans to read. It's the media that takes quotes from it and runs it in newspapers, magazines, tv, and internet pieces. Reporters ask Schilling questions, and unlike 98% of professional athletes, Schilling actually gives an honest answer instead of a prepared meaningless sound clip. People can disagree with what he says, but I really fail to see how he is a "******." I personally like what Schilling does, and while I don't agree with everything he says I still think he's a breath of fresh air when it comes to athletes talking.

schilling is a loud mouthed ****** bag. since i display these same traits i know these folks when i see them. i think his numbers are fantastic but he only really dominated in the postseason. of the 23 years in his career how many of those years would he be considered the best pitcher in baseball? what maybe 1, maybe!!! imo if you let schilling in your are opening the door for more decent to good pitchers and tainting the hall.

Does this mean they were close to catching Schilling with steriods?
I don't think you can ever be "close to catching" someone with steroids.

If Schilling took steroids, he'll be one of the thousands who have taken them and gotten away without any implication. Ever. That alone is reason enough to call off the steroid witch hunt of the past.

I know appearance isn't the be-all, end-all indicator of steroids use.

Having said that...

If I were a steroid manufacturer, and Schilling was using my brand, I'd sincerely hope it was never discovered. He looks more like the "before" than the "after", and would not be a ringing endorsement of the effectiveness of my product.

EDIT - and if they were "close" to catching him, the retirement probably wouldn't stop them from continuing to look.

Like him or not, the man did what he said he would do. And that was come to Boston and help win us a WS.

And, truthfully, I wish more pitchers were like him. The man gets surgery and plays what, two days later?

Look at David Wright...playing with what, a broken toenail or something? Yet you have pitchers taking a week or two plus off due to an ouchie on their finger.

Whats this i hear about him getting a talk show on WEEI though?

He's co-hosted on the Big Show a few times, I know that. I'd probably actually listen to that station if it were Schilling, Merloni and McAdam on one show. But that station has become unlistenable.

Sam, he'll have MORE time to be on your TV now. You don't think MLB Network will make him an offer?

I doubt Sam can afford basic cable, let alone the MLB Network

I havent listened to sports talk since I got XM. So much rather listen to music. Although the whiner line was always good for some laughs.

I try and catch the Flash on the way home in case I missed anything, but other than that, it's usually 3 or more idiots yelling over each other - and that's when Smerlas ISN'T on the show - so iPod shuffles take me home.

Ah

I used to listen to dale and hollie, and back when it was dale and whatshisname, before he got canned.

Now my drive home at 11 means I've generally got the trance/electronica blaring (courtesy of XM's Corsten's Countdown or Subterranean).

I hope this means that we don't see any new posts about cards getting Schilled anymore! Of course, maybe he will have more time for eBay now...

Regardless of the things he has said, the way he has acted, etc, he still contributed so much to AZ. I'm not a big fan of him and never really was, but he had some great great years here and his postseason performance in 2001 was amazing. So I thank him for that!
