Is this allowed or is it illegal that they are using the Islanders logo and Tavares image at making a profit? Just curious...

no opinions on this topic?

Its okay if he goes out and makes a few hundred dollars (can't see it being more)??

Is it against any US laws or is this allowed?

Its basically a question if its okay to sell custom cards for profit? Some Baseball customs have been selling for prices over $500 recently. With the artists making their customs just look better and better as times goes on , i could see a good market developing for custom cards. Some peoples customs are top notch!! We see a bunch of them on this very board.

Is it illegal? Probably yes, ashe doesn't have the rights to use the Islanders logo.

There's also the question of where the photo came from. If he took it off the internet, then technically he is using copywritten/trademarked photos, which also could be illegal.

But, is it something that's really worth the NHL or the Islanders to go after and sue? Not really. The legal fees just to shut down one guy selling a few home made cards is not worth it.

On that, if someone is stupid enough to purchase those for that much money, then that's their stupid fault.

Ya it's illegal for sure. I've made custom cards before, and have sent them for TTM autograph requests as well. They've come back signed, but I know if I ever tried to sell them there is a possibility that I could get in trouble.

Yes, its illegal, but in order for something to happen a complaint would likely have to be initiated by the Islanders or the NHL (for use of the logo) or the photographer (for use of the image).

Kind of a lame looking custom, anyways.... ;)
