The Fresh Faces insert is only available in the 2022 Vending boxes. I believe there are 25 different players, all rookies. I have a few extras if anyone is looking for their guy.

2003-04 Upper Deck Triple Dimensions Standout Sigs #6 Patrick Ewing /25 -- I was unware of this particular card's existence until last week. This card being from a lesser known set and a PSA 7 worked in my favor. Despite it being one of his most-limited autos release from 2003, I was able to get it for around what his "common" autographs were fetching at the National. I am glad I didn't succumb to paying a premium at the show.

Here are the others to round out my favorite five Knicks. I've tried to find early on-card autographs and vertical designs. Most of these were $10 or less. (Some are stock pictures). I really wish Mason had an Autographics release, but that remains one of the few Panini cards in my collection.

That Ewing is cool, always reminds me of my bachelor party, he was at the same casino we were in AC, I was hammered and don’t actually remember seeing him, more of a giant tall blur, but I know I followed him around for a bit when he was walking somewhere….wayyyy too drunk to even think about getting an autograph, lol

Some great '90s stuff. Damon Mashore is my first baseball 1997 Totally Certified Gold card, 0017/0030...of course I have two Trent Dilfers from the football set, one peeled and one unpeeled. The Stottlemyre 1995 Electric Diamond Gold is from the very tough Series 2. I only need one more to finish off that team set now. And it's always good to find a 1997 Score Reserve Collection...I now need 3 more for that team set, a common plus Canseco and McGwire.

090722-2.jpg
090722-3.jpg

Another set I love adding to is 2000 Finest Gold Refractors. Unfortunately Mark Mulder is on the much less flashy backside of this one. Still need two more A's from that set.

090722-4.jpg

2009 Finest Gold Refractor/50 Jeff Baisley finishes the team set. Canseco was the last "regular" 1997 Donruss Preferred Cut to the Chase I needed, still need a Gold McGwire to finish that set off. The McGwire Firebrand is the Members Only version, the year where they just printed it on the back instead of doing the stamp on the front. The Dilfer is some kind of sheet-cut proof for his 1996 Pro Mags "card." It does not have the magnet backing or the gold foil stamping. The 2014 Topps Update Sam Fuld is the "Sparkle" variation...it's right above his belt on his back. Still need two 2015 Sparkles to finish off all the A's from the various years Topps did that.

090722-5.jpg

A final mishmash...Bolt is a 2020 Topps Update Black/69, a couple of Independence Day/76 parallels, a Mulder 2021 Topps Chrome Platinum Auto Refractor/199, and a Joey Wendle Bowman Chrome Gold Refractor Auto/50. I was really shocked to win the Wendle as unless somebody is completely washed up Bowman Chrome Gold Refractor autos generally sell for more than what they are worth to me. Wendle isn't exactly a prospect or a superstar but he's still a major leaguer. The centering isn't GEM MINT worthy but I'm fine with it.

Just a couple today.

1997 Zenith 8x10 Dufex Jeff Bagwell - Sadly this one got pretty beat up in the mail. It has several creases in it now but still displays pretty well.

2012 Topps Archives Fan Favorites Auto Jose Oquendo RF Variation - This one gets me to 4 of the 9 variations. I really like the concept of this set but it seems like the execution really fell flat. The picture on the 2B/SS card is the only one that he is definitely fielding the position listed.

2002 Elite Aspirations Jermaine Dye 06/76 completes the team set! 2000 Paramount Holo-Silver Tejada gets me one away from that team set and 1999 Omega Copper Kenny Rogers puts me 2 short for that set.

Palmiero Recollections /10. Palmiero.png

Tarkenton /50. Tark 50.jpg. Warfield. Warfield.jpg

Frazier. Frazier.jpg. Love these retro Panini cards. If they were baseball, they'd be stupid, but they seem to be able to do the NBA cards with style.

Aguirre /50. s-l1600-2.jpg. When I think of Aguirre, I think of this SI cover I saw as a kid. I thought it was pretty damn neat and figured those guys were going to be great if they were on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Sampson went on to be a Hall of Famer. Aguirre was a all-star player and King, the worst of the trio still had a 10 year NBA career, so not too shabby.s-l1600-1.jpg

Two more for the 2001 GoTG set and both are Hall of Famers today:

The usual random 90s stuff too. The Griffey is /5,000. The Thomas Essence of the Game is the first of those I've gotten that really went brown so I'll upgrade it at some point. The McGwire is /1,999. All the Chrome is making me realize I really need to clean my scanner too.

Hopefully nobody minds seeing non-baseball here, as it seems I am heading down that path more and more these days. Baseball has always been my primary collecting interest, but I have collected just about everything at some point or another. Going back and focusing on autographs that I missed or had in another form has been refreshing. It really makes me regret being such a crazy Garvey collector, fighting for so many duplicates that I really don't care as much about now. I can't get enough signed cards these days and the bigger variety, the better! I still buy dupes of players/designs I like a lot, especially when they are at good prices, but unique is king these days for me.

A bumper crop NBA HOF mailday today...

Today's mail is a card I really thought I'd never see or even own.

1998 Donruss Significant Signatures Billy Williams Unredeemed - Billy was lucky enough to be the card Playoff chose to be the exchange card for the Koufax refractors in the set. This is only the second copy I've seen that wasn't redeemed and isn't stamped Redeemed across the picture on the back. The only other copy I've seen the signature was badly, badly faded and I passed on it since I was selling my set anyway. This one popped up this week and I couldn't buy it fast enough. I included a picture of the back of a Redeemed copy as well. I don't know how rare it really is but it doesn't show up often. I'm glad to have it because my rebuilt set will be even better than the original build I no longer have.

I meant to check as I was filing cards last time and forgot. I was pretty sure I had both versions myself. I recall reading about it and thinking that it would fit perfectly into my collection, a somewhat mysterious unredeemed card, but that is already collectible in itself! I did in fact have both versions. Sounds like it was a good call to scoop up both.

Looks like I get to start us once again.

Walt Hazzard or Mahdi Abdul-Rahman if you prefer. Love that he got a card. He wasn't exactly a big time name from those 70s Sonics! View attachment 341450

Awesome trivia about him - they named a county after him in one of the southern states. As soon as they did things started getting WILD in that county. A song was even written about it Walt Hazzard

Awesome. I'd never seen an unredeemed copy until the one that popped up on eBay in July that I passed on due to the faded auto. Good to know there are at least three copies.

Stupid sellers are so frustrating. There really needs to be a class you graduate from before you should be able to ship collectibles through the mail! More on that shortly...

Berra. Berra.jpg. Unseld. Unseld.jpg. Bellamy. s-l1600.jpg

Faulk Players Party card, part of a set available at some superbowl party. This was the best card in the set and I was collecting Faulk heavily at the time s-l1600-3.jpg.Jackson Penn.s-l1600.png

Here is the disappointing delivery. I didn't even know this Harris existed before I bought it. Thought I knew about all the unique inserts of the 90s like this. Not sure if this was a case hit or some other special was you could get it (hobby dealer only, etc). Limited (for the time) to 5000 copies and dufex, it is a sweet card. Guy sends it PWE in a softsleeve and a piece of cardboard. The card got damaged! NEVER SEND A SINGLE CARD THAT ISN'T IN A TOPLOADER!s-l1600-1.jpgs-l1600-2.jpg

Ugh that sucks. Back in 2020-21 it was REALLY bad with all of the new people hopping into cards because it was the thing to do at the time, and they had no clue what they were doing.

Today's pickups:

091222.jpg

The Pache is my first 2022 Finest Flashbacks Refractor pickup, there are only 3 A's in the set but the other two are Henderson and McGwire so this was the easy one. 2010 Upper Deck Gold Henry Rodriguez 46/99 puts me 4 short opf completing the team set. 3 away for 1998 SI World Series Fever Extra Edition/98 after picking up this neat A's/Dodgers cover card. Zito is my first 2002 Topps Chrome Black Refractor/50 pickup of the year, pretty tough to track these down 20 years later. I'm still 8 away from completing it. But Chad Harville completes the 4-card 2000 Black Diamond Final Cut/100 team set.
