September/October stats for Cameron Maybin

In 28 games with 104 PAs (92 ABs), Maybin hit .293 with an OPS of .853, with 8 doubles, a triple, and 3 home runs. Best of all, he only struck out 20 times. Project that over a full season, and it translates to over 40 doubles and close to 20 home runs, with over 100 runs scored and under 120 strikeouts. He vastly improved his strikeout ratio in AAA this year, and demonstrated his patience in the big leagues as well (for a month, at least). I keep rooting for the guy and hopes that he can put together a full season in the Marlins outfield next year.

Nice projections, but the one stat that really puzzles me is 0 SB in Sep/Oct. Has the chicken wing lost a step?

Those arent bad stats at all. It seems like some of the young, somewhat disappointing players so far had big septembers/octobers. Gordon, Young, Bruce, Wieters, and Maybin all had an excellent ending to the season.

in Wax's defense, Hes a Marlins fan, and they did give up Cabrera to get Maybin (and ironically, his favorite player, Miller)

Well.....

I'm glad for Cameron that he has seemingly begun to turn it in the right direction. I still do not consider them great stats, and even the projections are a bit lacking, but considering the small sample size of decent play, he still has a lot to prove and a good ammount of head room to grow before he desserves a 'look at me' thread.

As a Marlins fan, MINOR LEAGUE stats don't affect the MAJOR LEAGUE team at all.

Wax is right, he's sucked from April to August. Glad he's putting up decent numbers in September, but it really doesn't matter if the Marlins are already out of playoff contention

You and Mario knew full well what I meant, and there was no need to be condescending.

Savvy prospectors pay full attention to what happens in both the Major and Minor leagues, and people here love to hate them for it (see post below).

Anyway, my job is done here. Wouldn't want to be accused of drinking Kool-Aid.

Yes, nobody should question that every single prospector knows absolutely everything about who plays the game of baseball, from local tee-ball leagues (their definition of 'rookie') to the major leagues to local beer leagues. Forget the internet, prospectors ARE the fountains, no, the oracles, of complete baseball knowledge.

I somehow doubt anyone believes this. Well, maybe if the prospector is a major league scout or GM. In which case, they don't need to try to make money off of baseball cards

But seriously, prospecting is a minor-league (and before?) activity, success down there does not automatically translate into success into the big leagues. Everybody should know this by now.
