So I bought a decently priced card a couple weeks back to get and ship for someone's birthday. Told the seller that I needed it to get shipped asap to try and get it for the person's birthday. It didn't show and didn't show, so I finally emailed the seller for a shipping number... "We are sorry, but your mail was accidentally misrouted". It finally got back to the St. Paul post office Saturday and left on the 1.5 hour trip to my house only three days ago! So, what should have taken 2-3 days has turned into a 2-3 week ordeal.

Needless to say the person's birthday has come and gone... Idiots.

Sorry to hear about that man. I'm sure the person will still be happy with whatever you got them, regardless of it's it after the fact. I know that doesn't make the situation better at all and that you should have had the card in time, but it was a great gesture on your part.

The USPS is slacking at times. I made a trade with a board member and he checked the dc# yesterday. The USPS site says that they tried to deliver the item, but there was no claim slip left. Hopefully it gets delivered today or at least they leave a slip.

Sounds about like my post office....I got notified that there was a mishap with 2 bundles of mail and it was all destroyed.....I had 5 packages in there totaling about $1400 CV and thank the good lord it was all insured. However, the post office said it will take up to 90 days to get my money???? WTF is that about!!!!!

So you not only destroy my packages (I am sure it was an accident) but you also keep my money for 90 days!!!!

Thanks Bo, but you must be confused. My birthday is in August, so there is still plenty of time for it to get here.

yes i understand you're upset, it's happened with a card I've received and with a card I've sent. But people need to realize that for less than two quarters, you can ship a letter anywhere in the US. The service the PO provides (i.e. what it can do, like mail something anywhere) is amazing and the prices even better. With these low prices come many users and many items to be mailed and shipped. Surely, the PO will mess up a few items out of what is likely tens of millions of articles each and every day. Even if 1,000 items a day get lost/routed incorrectly, that's a minute percentage of the say, 30,000,000 items shipped daily. That's pretty darn good performance. To be safe, I always ship with the DC and insurance, so I can know where my item is to see if it's been going "the wrong way" and to be safe in case my item is in the minuscule percentage of items lost a day.

Nothing wrong with beating a dead horse. The post office that my mail gets routed through doesn't even attempt to re-deliver, they leave a slip letting me know I have to pick it up or else they'll just ship it back to the sender.

I hate to be this way but lets put it in perspective.I have put in a lot of plumbing in my time as a plumber. If even one pipe has a leak and it damges something like a computer or even a wall or whatever damage occurs, ...I get to go bye bye.Fired.See ya.They keep logs of who was working where on any job I have ever worked at.They know who was working there and who put what in.Your held responsible.I'd like to see someone else be held the same.Whether they handle a lot of stuff or not matters little to me just like it would matter little to a customer if like 10 of their brand new computers got ruined. What am I going to tell them?"Well...gee...I run a lot of pipe and everything else comes out okay so quit your bitching."Not likely.

This would be fantastic if true, but it'll never happen. You're talking about federal employees, some of the laziest and rudest people around.

Nothing amazes me with the USPS.

Recently a package with DC was deliveried to someone elses house in the neighborhood. When I checked tracking it said, delivered. I called the PO and they were very helpful about it, and some how the packaged showed up (I think a neighbor brought it over). There are constant screw ups.

With the millions of pieces of mail they deliver each day they do an amazing job for the most part. They deliver more pieces in one day than UPS delivers in an entire year. I won an auction from state of Washington on Sunday, they sent it Monday and I got the first class package Wednesday morning in my mail box and I live near Louisville KY. Pretty dam good. I'm also amazed on how many people write crappy barley legible address on my stuff and somehow they can decifer the writing and it gets to me. Sure they have the occasional screw up, but they are still the best deal on the planet.
