I'm not entirely sure these people are all morons, although this is as likely as any other reason for their purchases. As I've said before, its interesting to consider who would purchase cards like this and for these amounts when such prices haven't been seen in a very long time. What profile do these buyers fit? Would people here be purchasing cards for these amount/are investors targeting people here on this board for purchases and why/why not?
What's also interesting is that Stras already had autos on the market last year. Do novices know this?

Sam Banks said:Anyone who would ever spend 16K on a Steven Strasberg card, or any prospect for that matter is a complete and utterly ridiculously minded moron.
Why would anyone spend that kind of money on someone who hasn't yet proven anything on a baseball diamond? It's insanely stupid.
I would never wish injury on anyone, but people spending that kind of money on a PROSPECT card, if he did throw his arm out, I'd just have to laugh at your stupidity. Good for the guy who's able to sell the card to the moron who buys it though, that's awesome for him, but to the person who's willing to buy that, get a freaking life dude. Spend the money on something useful. I MIGHT be able to see that spending on Mantle, or Ruth, or someone who's already PROVEN something on a diamond, but to spend it on a prospect is just stupid. And makes me hope you go bankrupt the day after he throws his arm out and the card isn't worth 25 bucks.
