Having had a Pirates farm team here for 15 years not many on that list came thru low "A" here . Last year only 8 on pirate 40 man roster from here but 20 plus playing for other teams . 2010 might be a start to better times maybe 2012 winning season

I would say that this list is VASTLY improved over the last few years.

If these players aren't in your top 20, then you have a TON of depth. Bryan Morris, RHP; Danny Moskos, LHP; John Raynor, OF; Donald Veal, LHP; Neil Walker, 3B.

This farm system is improving, thanks to trades, more aggressive drafting, and additional scouting in Latin

When Rinku Singh ranks as your #14 prospect overall, it doesn't bode well for the future.

Though I have been critical of some of the things the front office has done (particularly the Bay trade and nontendering Capps), the advances the farm system has made have been unfathomable. For context, two years ago the Pirates top 10 included Moskos, Neil Walker, and Brad Corley. I like Sickles' list more than BA's, and agree with his assessment of D'Arnaud as a bench player/possible starter, rather than a top 5 in the system type of guy.

I think the system's depth should allow for a steady stream of talent coming into the major league roster, particularly when it comes to the outfield and pitching. With the number of arms that have been added to the system, I don't think it's out of line to think the Buccos could have a solid rotation 1-5 within the next few years. However, it does worry me a bit that none of the arms seem to have true #1 potential, with the possible exception of Von Rosenberg, who is obviously a long way from the majors.

still a fan of alderson. excellent command with a funky delivery and a + curveball.

Should be a solid #3 and a strong #2 if he can really put it together in the bigs.

Sad he's not in the giants organization anymore

That statement tells you all you need to know about the depth of that system; with that said, I also think that their top 10 has some serious potential for the future.

When and where has Singh ranked that high?

I got scared to because I read the list looking for the Indian guys. Fortunate for the Pirates fans they aren't on the list.
