Simon Castro and Alexander Colome are two highly touted minor league pitchers that each only have one major RC out: 2010 Bowman base. These cards have sold fairly well, especially as Castro broke out, but not to the extent I thought they would (Castro was a top 20 prospect in BA's midseason top 25). I have trying to decide whether now is a good time to speculate (Castro gold's garner $20-25 per, as do Colome's), or if I should wait for an impending release that will be autographed (barring checklist changes, both should have an autograph in Platinum)? Can these base chromes hold value if they do not have a chrome auto to directly compete against? Heyward had a sterling auto the same year he had a base chrome, and the base chrome stuff sold on par, if not better than the autographed sterling cards. Opinions appreciated!

Decker is probably the best example of this and hearts were broke. With that said, his golds weren't selling for 25 bucks, which seems like a pretty solid price even if they both get gold autos.

I guess you really have to weigh how much you think the prices will go up between now and a few months from now. Depending on how long BDPP is pushed back, it may eventually come out after the Top-100 which could give you a chance to sell if Castro's auto is in that product.

I also think Madison Bumgarner will provide a pretty good comparison for you.
