A pitcher gives up a triple with 2 outs, then on the next play the batter hits a ball to the shortshop that would have been an infield fly out in a different situation. The shortstop drops it, and the runner scores. So the question: Would that be an earned run for the pitcher because the runner on third got there on a hit, or is it an un-earned run because the runner on third scored because of an error?

I believe it would be unearned because the out would have ended the inning had the error not been made. Also, any runs allowed after that in the inning would also be unearned. Not 100% sure though.

Good to here.... That means I still have not given up an earned run this year. :)
