Okay, I've never cared for Jerry Sloan the person. He went to my high school, lives in the town I grew up in, and is a dick ***.

But I think it's a pretty raw deal that a 23 year relationship with the Jazz is ending prematurely and he's being forced out mid-season.

Jerry's a guy that holds grudges, so hopefully he doesn't hate the Jazz until he dies.

There's already people wanting him to come back and coach the high school team, haha! That's hilarious. And even if he wanted to, Burt Reed is damn hear a bigger star around here than Jerry Sloan.

Edit:

And what makes this most surprising is that just LAST NIGHT I seen on the Bottom Line that he just signed a one year contract extension.

Pretty bad for the owner to let this happen, it sends the wrong message to other star players in the league. Especially since Deron is a FA after this season so he might not even be around next season.

Edit - I knew there was a reason for Sam posting this, he only did it because he had a Cardinals angle
Congrats on your first two posts on the basketball boards.

Sloan's from my home town and went to my high school. I've been around him quite a bit through the years. The guy is a complete stroke. Told me once that Jordan was hung over during the 'flu' game because him, Pippen, Stockton and Malone all went out the night before and he got wasted. Never respected Sloan at all after that.

I'd have no reason to doubt that story, honestly, but to lose respect of a person because they told you something you could neither confirm nor deny, because it is about one of your favorite basketball players of all time?

At the same time, you sure do hold a grudge against a so called ******* when, you know, you are a pretty big ******* yourself Samuel.

Jerry was given a raw deal by management. He's never had to worry about anything in his tenure that would embarrass the team. No scandals, no player problems (except for Deron being mad because he isn't up to the Stockton Standard yet) and rarely a losing season.

Great coach of a great team. Hopefully he doesn't hang it up and catches on with another team in the off season and starts another winning tradition somewhere else.

The way I looked at it is you don't show up to a party drunk and trash a teenagers idol and call him a fraud to his face if you're supposedly some man of great stature. That's why I lost respect for him. Because me and him were talking about the Finals, which had just happened a few weeks prior, and he was intentionally trying to ruin my perspective of Michael Jordan. He shouldn't have been doing that in his position.

Jordan isn't a angel, you might think he is but he wasn't. Jordan was a partier and anytime he was near the west coast he couldn't pass up going to Vegas and drinking and gambling. I remember once after a game in Utah he did come down to Vegas with Pippen, they were both down on the strip living it up, who cares. He drank, gambled, cheated on his wife, that's his business. It didn't make him any less of a player and I'm sure he played a few crappy games after a hard night.

Rick, I completely agree with you.

Not to mention, I am still willing to bet that Jordan's "sabbatical" from the game of basketball was more of an under the table suspension for his gambling problems.

I understand you were a teen at the time Sam, but this should have proved to you that you should NEVER idolize a human being (or an animal, or really anything I guess). No one is perfect and you shouldn't have expected any less, since his gambling problems (and womanizing allegations) started in the early to mid 90's.

Yes, I know all of these things about Jordan NOW, and yeah, I too believe that he 'retired' because he was actually suspended, but they didn't want to come out and say that.

But as a 16 year old kid who lived in THIS room, you don't trash Michael Jordan to me.

These were taken right before I moved out.

Michael Jordan was my childhood, and screw Jerry Sloan for intentionally trying to ruin that because he's a bitter old man.
