I personally like Smoak a whole lot better than Alonso, based solely off of what I have seen of each guy at the college level. Offensively, both are pretty much equal. However, defensively, I give the advantage to Smoak. Alonso has very little range and at times seemed very flat-footed and lazy.

I have to go with Smoak for obvious reasons. He grew up here locally and played in the playground system I played in long before he got there and from all accounts he is a fantastic young man. Great personality and a ton of potential. He improved every year at USC and I hope for a long career in the MLB. Regardless of how his stats panout I will still be a huge fan.
