I just did a quick search and didn't see this yet. Any thoughts on if this will happen?

The Mets' brain trust still needs to decide whether to sign free-agent catcher Yorvit Torrealba or Rod Barajas or go with what the Mets already have behind the plate. Also at issue is how to round out the rotation, with Ben Sheets, Jon Garland and John Smoltz the best remaining free-agent options. Team insiders say the Mets have been particularly active in dialogue with the 42-year-old Smoltz's reps and would use him as a starter.

The "Mets Brain Trust" are what got them to the shape they're in now. I heard Bob Gibson wants one more try at pitching, better get him brain trust! :D

I would like to get some die hard Mets fans real opinions on what the Mets are doing this off season. If I were a fan I might have boycotted the up coming season.

Not happy that John Smoltz might end up being our #2 but they addressed the offense issue(so long as everyone is healthy)I personally think Bedard is the best option and would love if they added him but I doubt that'll happen.Im not happy with their decisions but I'll still watch every game on t.v. but I wont pay to see them.

I'll go to one game this year and thats it. It is disappointing to say the least. I don't want Smoltz either.

I'm embarassed that Minaya is still in charge of this mess. The pitching is going to be below average no matter who they sign now. What I would like to see is for them to get Orlando Hudson in to add a little energy to the locker room. They choked in 07 and 08 because of a lack of leadership. I think guys like Wright, Murphy, Francoeuer, and hopefully Hudson would make sure that doesn't happen again.
