...my son went to Bright House Networks Field (Spring Training Home of the World Freaking Champions) for a baseball clinic with former MLBers. Spring Training was still going on, but this was an away game for the Phils.

For the first hour, I stayed in the stands...then as my son went underneath the stadium for a batting cage lesson with Mark "Hittin'" Whiten and Mike Devereaux, I decided to check out the field that I have spent so many springs at.

Carson and Kevin Bass - diggin' the rainbow stripes.

The man who hit 4 HRs in a game and Mike Devereaux. I figured Carson was in good hands here, so I decided to wander.

The weight room is very, very close to the underground batting cages.

Saw this interesting chart on the wall.

...back to my son and Mark Whiten...

Hmmm... there's no one there... I've never been in there before... maybe I'll take a seat...

Sitting in the dugout...

"The Phone"

Hey, there's a little room here behind the dugout...

What's in that room? Cole Hamels', Mike Schmidt's and Ryan Howard's ass has touched this.

My son still there? Yeah... he's good.

Hey look - Campy...

There are numerous other pics of my son with fringe major leaguers, I won't post those. Just neat to see the guts of BHNF. I went through the whole media area underneath the stadium as well. Not really very exciting. I found a huge stack of programs- - they were year 2000 spring training programs. I couldn't figure out why they were there -- the Phillies changed stadiums after 2000 - yet they brought old programs? Weird.

Very cool! I'll bet your son had a blast (and perhaps you too).

Looks like a lot of the pictures have the wrong links though.

Cool stuff. It reminds me of a Yankee stadium tour I went on. We got to go in the press box, clubhouse, dugout and then walk around the field to monument park.

Hard to tell which kid had the best time. I'm putting my money on the bigger kid. Looks like a great time and thanks for sharing the photos....except maybe of the toilet :D

Great pics. Looks like you and your son had a great time. It's also very cool that your son's name is Carson, that is my son's name as well. Great minds... Oh wait my wife came up with the name, nevermind. ;)

How old is your Carson?

Suffice it to say we both had a good time.. he got to play on a field we've been to over 100 times and watched his heroes play on, I got to walk on it and hang out in the dugout, and I got to explore the bowels of it.

He's going to a Clearwater Threshers camp there during the summer as well - I'm taking the week off and working from the stadium so I expect to have additional exploration.

He just turned 13 last month. How about yours?
