So I found this redemption card from Upper Deck that I have had for awhile but lost it in all the boxes I have (Yes I know it is basketball but there appears to be limited traffic on that board and besides, this really isn't a sport specific question).

I have heard of people sending in expired redemptions and getting something back for the card companies but I can only assume this is expired too far in the past for them to even pay me any notice. Besides, Upper Deck has zero obligation to me to honor this request. So I thought, why not send it in a try? All they can do is tell me to pound sand or send me a scrub auto that they have had laying around, collecting dust in their inventory.

So here is the question.....will I receive an autographed card in return or will I not?

Here is the contest. Those who answer correctly will be thrown into a hat and someone's name will be pulled out. The winner will win whatever I receive from Upper Deck. Either a nice, autographed card or a big fat zero (Ok I will try and get something for those who guess zero...not sure what, yet)

So chime in here and post your opinion and tell me if you think I will receive something back from Upper Deck or I will receive nothing for this Glen Rice redemption. This card will be on it's way to California Monday Morning.

I'll say I have a better chance of getting a Fleer NPN than this being redeemed.

So, no, you'll get nothing and like it.

No chance, but if you do somehow, let me know. I submitted a redemption a couple years ago that was expiered by less than a year, a MAJOR hit and was flat out told 'No' and by no means in a respectful way...

I'm going to say yes. Perhaps being sent a redemption from so far back will intrigue someone. Good luck!!!

I believe you will get something out of it.

no way, beyond insane after 13-14 years. Maybe it'll work out if ud is beyond beyond reaching. I remember these cards and its just too far back.

I know it's not exactly an answer to your question, but I say keep the redemption card. There's an extremely small percentage of collectors out there who would actually want that card, but if you locate one of them, you'll get more from them than you will from Upper Deck. I myself am trying to collect a master set of 2007 UD SP Rookie Edition baseball, and when I say master set I mean EVERYTHING....all autos as well as unscratched (and now expired) redemption cards. I have found the redemption cards are harder to locate than some of the more rare SP autos from the set. I happened to see a 2-year-old youtube video of a guy in Australia doing a box break and he pulled one of the redemption cards. I contacted him just on a whim that he might still have it and he did! He asked me what I would pay and I said $4 plus shipping. He accepted my offer but honestly, I would've offered much more to have it.

Anyway, you may not find many of those collectors who want your expired redemption right now, but my guess is that 20 years down the road for sure some 1998-99 SP Authentic set builder or a Glen Rice supercollector will HAVE to have that card and will be willing to pay a hefty amount for it. Expired redemption cards are discarded way too quickly these days (just like old wax wrappers once were) which is making them rare (even if nobody is taking notice right now), so don't be surprised if they are listed in Beckett down the road as a result of increased demand.

Agreed - I think that some expired redemption cards will become a hot commodity eventually, especially given how insane the basketball market can be for items that are shortprinted (in this case because they were redeemed, etc.)...
