So I opened a case on ebay against someone who didn't pay. Then today I sent him an email asking why did he bid if he didn't bother to pay after 10 days after winning an item. Then I told him that "he wasn't an ASSet to ebay". So then he pays, and said "your email has been reported. Enjoy". So now do I refund his money and move on because he might try to screw around and send the card back for no reason? Or drop a neg? LMK ladies and gents on how I should approach this. Thanks.

Yeah the buyer is a bum for not paying right away, but you need to make a better decision with your message to him. File an unpaid claim and leave it at that. No need to message him after the fact. Now you kind of screwed yourself.

I do hate people who take forever to pay. Don't bid if you can't pay in a day or two.

i thought that a buyer could no longer leave negative feedback for the seller, if the seller opened a dispute/claim against the buyer. please correct me if i am wrong, because i currently have 3 non paying bidders and would like to be sure before i open any disputes. thanks.

This is true only if the buyer does not respond to the non-paying bidder claim.

This is just me, but I never ever ever EVER send a buyer a message after a case is open for non-payment.

Exactly, once you open a claim, let Paypal/ebay handle everything!

Do only what they require and leave it at that.

Not only don't send a message ... don't send a message insulting the buyer and calling him names. Chances are you're getting hit with a negative, regardless of what you do. Even if he doesn't mess with the card, he'll probably drop a negative only for the fact you sent him a inappropriate message, which honestly, can't say I blame him if he does that.

I just poop in a baggie and send it to him. I already have his address... just have to remember to not put a return address on the package. They learn quick who not to f**k with.

While I understand and agree with your feeling he is an ass, you deserve a negative for sending him that message because it is poor communication and just bad business. If you have the stones to call them out like that, you had better be ready to deal with the fallout.

You really should only send 1 email to the buyer. You honestly should get a negative for sending that message even thought the buyer is at fault. I would imagine if they haven't paid after 7 days they probably won't pay at all. I send an invoice after the auction is over, if I haven't receive payment by the 3rd day Ill send a message asking when I can expect payment. If no response is given I open a case after the 4th day. 4 days is plenty of time for them to pay. That way I can close it out on the 7th and get the item re-listed.

I never communicate with NPBers once the case is open. If anything, you should have waited until it was successfully closed, so he couldn't make trouble for you, before sending him anything. But at that point, what's the use? You already know he's an idiot, letting him know that you know won't help anything.
