Please remember that the Beckett employees read threads here and that the newest Editor is a an active member...

Who gives a sh*t?

Beckett gave a big screw you to collectors and sympathy is expected?

If you'll recall, Beckett WAS bought by a company (Apprise Media) whose whole business model was selling subscriptions to niche, business-oriented magazines of questionable value. Not content, subscriptions. Since that sale, Beckett ceased to be a company with any actual interest in the hobby, and became solely about boosting corporate revenues. Remember, leading up to that sale was about the time Beckett destroyed it's website with the hugely botched "upgrade" and laid off most of it's content-related employees. It's a miracle they've hung onto Chris Olds as long as they have.

Its because I assume they have offered him a stake in the Company so why would he not stay and see it if it can make money.

I always thought it was cheaper to hire/keep one person to crank out a few articles a month for the blog/magazine than a staff of several content writers and content researchers.

If an "AP" of hobby news/features existed, Beckett might just license the material and send Olds packing because it's cheaper.

I wont send them anything that doesn't have a serial number on it. Actually I've never even sent any into them even when there have been group grading subs.

Now they are cold calling old numbers to try and get people to return. It's smart but at the same time really will piss off people. If a person wants to get their cards graded they are going to do it on their own or with the group subs.

I look at the marketplace online sometimes and read through the magazine and it has turned to complete garbage.

The special they're offering is actually a very good one for anybody that submits cards.

In this hobby, if you're making fun of people for their weight...you're in the wrong hobby.

Come on guys, why do so many rag on olds? Just because he works for them?

I only know him through tweets & vids, not like he knows me or are friends.

The passion he has for the hobby is incredible & he shares it with all.
