While the shots from the product look great, lets be honest.....this stuff looks to be a pipe dream at best right now. It's about 2+ months late and from what I hear they are no where close to getting all of their stuff signed.

So....let's be honest....it's not coming out.

What are your thoughts? Beginning of the end for UD?

Hardly the beginning.

the beginning was when they lost the MLB license, then the NFL license. Yet, they continued to crank out decent products and mostly on time. Now, they can't get a product out without at least a 3 month delay.

So maybe beginning of the end is the wrong terminology....but it seems like it has all caught up to them very fast. Even in hockey (which is their best chance to make a splash with a real pro league license) their release calendar has not only been behind but it seems that their high end products for this class may never come out.

I think a lot of the problem with getting the product out is how they have a massive amount of debt with the NFLPA and individual NFL players. They owe five digits to some superstar players like Tony Romo and Peyton Manning. Between not paying their previous signers and then the players who plain don't sign like we see with all companies who sign them to contracts for autographs, this product is screwed.

If you take a look at the checklists for the products that have come out, most of the autographs are either from rookies or names you don't see often, aka players whom they haven't soured business relations with because of massive unpaid debt. Rather than seeing Peyton Manning pop up in 2012 UD, you see Brian Griese and Gino Torretta. Don't get me wrong, I was thrilled to see UM Heisman Winner Torretta get some hobby love nearly 20 years after his collegiate career, but I would think UD's default on player compensation played a role as much as tuning the product to the collegiate market.

I really hope that UD pulls through, because I love their products and what they've been doing with their NCAA license, save the late release of some "2011" product. I know a lot of hockey collectors swear by UD and would have to be put on suicide watch if UD went under.

If UD did tank, I just pray that Poopnini didn't come in and buy them out. Best case scenario if they would go under? The valiant Leaf charging in on steed, prismatic armor sparkling under the sun to produce fully licensed NCAA trading cards, because Leaf is the only company doing anything right with unlicensed NCAA product, and I'd love to see what they could do with a license.

It'll be released, just a massive amount of redemptions & dead-beats ...

Press pass did a good job this year Brennan.

Them and Leaf should be the license holders. However, going back to how it used to be with everyone using it would be ok with me. It makes the early year products better, I think.
