So, MLB is pruposely shunning Ryan Braun, right?

A friend of mine pointed this out, and I can't stop noticing it. I have yet to see Ryan Braun, the NL MVP from last year, in a single MLB-related item as far as promotion or reporting goes. Nothing in video-game ads; nothing for any MLB related sponsor; not even anything for the All Star game, which he will most likey be a Top-5 overall vote getter again, especially if he keeps hitting like he did this week.

What are your thoughts, because it's CLEARLY happening? Petty? Justified? Rude to the fans who know more about what they want than MLB actually does?

Those types of decisions have to be made months ahead of time, and there was a legit concern at the time that he may not perform as well this year either because he lost protection of prince, or the stress of having to prove that he wasnt on anything, or the actual loss of performance by being forced off PEDs.

they did not want any part of a guy coming off such a scandal. If he stays clean the rest of the year, (and maybe passes quite a few drug tests between last time and this), i'll bet he'll be a cover boy again.

He should be, in my mind and many others he is a guilty user. Basically he was found guilty and got off on
a technicality. At the end of the day he was still guilty they just couldn't prosecute him.

You don't put a PED user in ads. Regardless of his suspension getting overturned he is guilty in the court of public opinion. Plus I still think over 80% of us on the boards don't buy the chain of custody argument.

Firstoff, if I were MLB I'd be doing the same thing.

I'm not going to be around to continue to argue the point, but until I hear Braun's full story, which will be never, all I have to go on is what's been presented to me, and that is that a positive test was overturned because of chain of custody. I feel that he argued chain of custody because it was the greatest opportunity for him to be exonerated, but there were other extenuating circumstances surrounding the positive result, which we will never know about because Braun doesn't have to disclose it publicly, and if he did, people are going to believe what they want to regardless. I don't think labeling him a 'PED' user is just when we don't know what happened to with a sample with testosterone ratios higher than any previously seen and chain of custody questions.

Pretty bold assuming guilt when the guy has 19 HR this year.

We aren't talking Brady Anderson here. I'm sure he won't piss hot on any subsequent test.... then we can blame corked bats for his 40 HR season.

Did he lose any sponsors? I have noticed that you don't see a lot of highlights of his.

Alex Rodriguez received MVP votes in 2009 and 2010 after he admitted to taking PEDs earlier in his career.

Braun never admitted anything. If he deserves MVP votes the writers better vote fairly.

IMO, and many will disagree, arod coming clean about steroids makes him look better in the public eye and to the writers than braun, who like I said IMO over 80% at least of people believe he did use PED's and come on the chain of custody argument is bogus just like OJ's racial argument at his trial. It's the only thing that could have possibly gotten him the ruling overturned. Additionally, arod admitted to steroid use way before the 09, 10 seasons. To my knowledge he only admitted slight use while with the rangers

I see the point you're making, and somewhat agree. Can you imagine if ARod had Braun's personality and likability? Coming clean is a good thing for sure, but ARod just isn't a likable player like Braun is. If Braun came clean (and I 100% believe he used, chain-of-custody screwup or not), he could re-establish his reputation quickly. All but the most hardcore haters would embrace him.

Not pertaining to Braun, but I have noticed that ESPN always seems to show Arizona teams being beaten in their highlight packages

The carry-over effects (gained muscle mass from PED-boosted workouts, increase in physical fitness with PED-boosted workouts) of Braun's use can't be precisely calculated, which is why there is a stain on his career for me. To say that PEDs work only during the time you use them is COMPLETE nonsense. Tell me you don't gain more muscle if you work out for a year under the influence of PEDs versus similar clean workouts.

This is exactly why MLB and their policy will never work. Test results should not be leaked.. They should be released but not until all options have been exhausted. Regardless of the test results an arbitrator agreed upon by mlb and the mlbpa ruled in brauns favor do suck it up and enjoy the game.

At least Braun (Milw) has been on nationally televised games. Bautista and the Jays have yet to be featured, even after 2 yrs of leading MLB in homers.

Yea but Bautista is in a major MLB Jersey ad campaign. Honestly after seeing him play the last few days not surprised there aren't any highlights
