More like the "Incompetent Judge Era".

Easily one of, if not THE worst decisions in UFC history. ::facepalm::

I couldn't agree more Snyper. I liked Machida going into the fight. Rua got jobbed though. That was a horrible decision.

I genuinely feel for Rua. My God... Even Machida was shocked when the call was made. It'll be interesting to see the postconference and reactions.

BTW- that is a badass MJ in your sig man!

All I can say is WOW!!!!!! Just WOW at that decision. The Shogun won that damn fight. And I too had Machida going in. Such a robbery.

Complete BS. I'm a fan of both, but Shogun was straight up screwed.

Same feelings dude. Does Cecil Peoples horrible judging rub off on the other judges at shows he is scoring?

Nobody can say that Shogun isn't back now. Can't wait for the rematch.

Great fight, just terrible decision.

God I hated all those people that were saying how Shogun isnt for real and the usual "UFC > Pride" bull****. There BETTER be an immediate rematch.

I've never liked the mentality that you must REALLY beat the champ to dethrone him. It would be interesting to know how they scored the fight. I wonder if all the punishment to the legs didn't score as well as shots to the head would have. Even though it totally slowed Machida down dramatically.

Personally, the reason MMA is so much better than boxing is that fights don't go the distance as much. Which means judges don't determine anything. I was really hoping someone would end it last night because I had a feeling it would be a screwy outcome in some way. I was actually thinking it was going to be called a draw. Which would have been bad enough. :|

Man, I'd hate to be Lyoto Machida's ribs today.

I think it is a unanimous secision with MMA fans that Machida had a horseshoe up his ass last night and was given a gift. Or about as close to unanimous as possible in a group of people who get off on playing Devils Advocate and bitch as much as possible about fights and fighters. But really who is to say that Lyoto just wasn't on his game 100% last night and that's why he wasn't dominate, and that he could knock out Shogun in their rematch and then rack off 10 title defenses in a row and become the greatest LHW champion of all time? I could see that happening. But then again I could see Shogun setting up a great gameplan after having 5 rounds in the cage with Lyoto and defeating Machida in their rematch and FINALLY getting a belt.

This is the great thing about MMA. Something bullshitty can happen and it creates a ton of possibility and intruige and hype for the 'next time.'. Like the Mir/Lesnar 1 debacle. Hell, I can't wait for a 3rd fight, because you all know it is going to happen.

I can't wait to see them fight again. The fact that Cecil Peoples also refs fights makes his scoring that much worse. I honestly thought that Machida would have a lot better showing. Rua definitely came to fight, I think his corner did him wrong by telling him that he was in control of the fight (even though I saw it the same way.)

Yeah, it's ridiculous that an athletic commision won't reinstate Big John McCarthy to ref again, yet they let the bums Mazzagatti, Peoples and a few others continue doing their job.

Yeah, what is the story behind that? Why can't he ref anymore?

Heres what rounds the judges scored for the fighters:

Judges Nelson “Doc” Hamilton, Cecil Peoples and Marcos Rosales each scored the fight 48-47 for Machida, who improved to 16-0 in the most difficult bout of his career. Hamilton gave Machida Rounds 2, 3 and 4. Peoples and Rosales each gave Machida the first three rounds.

I don't know if it was Nevada or what state, but they denied him because they are not in need of any more refs.

When Big John was doing commentary for Elite XC he threw a bunch of people under the bus and talked trash about a lot of people. He ruffled a lot of feathers and now he's paying for it.

About the Machida Shogun decision. There's a great article up on Yahoo. The article basically says if you're looking to point a finger point it at Shogun's corner. They continually told him he was wining each round and they were telling him that he was way ahead of Machida. Had they told him the fight was a close as it actually was maybe he would have been more agressive in the last round to get the decision he deserved.

I think a fighter taking his corners advice is a lame excuse.

A fighter should fight to win...not for points and decisions.

Honestly, there never was a "Machida Era"

...one could also say they pimped Lyoto so much was so they can get into the Japanese market...because really, Lyoto has beaten some good guys (Penn, Franklin), but honestly, he beat Tito by decision, when it was obvious Tito cared less, and now got a cheap decision against Shogun

I think, as good as he is, Lyoto is overrated in alot of aspects

HOW DARE YOU????!!!!!!

You shut your mouth!!!!

I will NEVER blame THE NINJA for anything!!!!!

That was a highlight of my night seeing Ninja in the corner!

I told my buddy right before the entrances that if Ninja was in Shoguns entourage I would pick him to win, and sure enough he was right there with him. I said that jokingly, I still had Machida.
