So the Browns are going to be trading Braylon Edwards to the Giants for a 2nd rd, 5th rd, and either Steve Smith or Dominic Hixon. This leaves them without a #1 receiver, in addition to losing Winslow from the passing game. Plus Donte Stallworth should be suspended. Perhaps they can get Crabtree in the draft. Otherwise, their passing game is going to suck.

Who the heck knows whats going on with their QB situation. Hopefully they set things in stone before the season. And hopefully Anderson goes back to 07 form or Quinn shines like he is supposed to.

So are the Browns doomed to lay at the bottom of the league again?

Its actually not the worst thing that could happen. I like Edwards and he is extremely talented but he's only had 1 good season out of 4 and was pretty terrible last year. Hixon and Smith are both pretty decent #3 WRs and the trade would mean the Browns have 4 picks in the top 60. Even if they don't get Crabtree at 5 they would still have a lot of the projectable WRs there for them at 36.

Lets face it, the Browns aren't only a player or two away from being a good team. Outside of a huge turnaround by either Quinn or Anderson, they weren't going to be a good team next year even with Edwards.

I wonder if Cleveland may pursue Anquan Boldin now that the Cardinals are open to offers.

I was reading that Quinn could be on the move as well maybe they could sign Holt, to go along with Hixon or Smith and draft Crabtree and thats not that bad and next year go out and get a big name

I guess Kokinis is going with the same formula they used in Baltimore while he was there: make a concerted effort to have an incompetent offense.

the browns will figure something out, they got a taste for winning 2 years ago and aren't gonna let it go imo. Edwards is a curse, he CAN be the most talented person on the field making game changing catches and then he can be the guy that drops a pass that hits him in both hands in the endzone... its a double edged sword and for the money he was getting or probably gonna ask for i would cut my loses also. im sure he'll go to the giants and be a stud but thats how it works.

Crabtree is def. a possibility and a good one... but receivers are so plentiful, just b/c they aren't huge names doesn't mean they arent good, the saints have a slew of noname receivers that are pretty impressive so theres always people willing to step up and take those roles.

I hope the browns get it together and things working, i've always like them and its their turn to do something! I think last year was a fluke for them b/c teams like that (and the saints) aren't used to be big winners so when expectations get real high they have a hard time, but now with expectations back to normal and the spotlight off of them i think they'll shine.... and don't give up on Derek Anderson, he's a solid QB.

sorry for the long read.

you make some very good points here.....like the one about the Saints having some good talent at WR......Colston was a second day pick....not 2nd Round....2nd Day.....and though he didn't have the year last year that he did in his rookie season....he's still quality for where he was drafted.....so if the Browns opt not to go with Crabtree.....don't be discouraged......there is talent at that position in the draft......doesn't have to be a Top WR....Jerry Rice wasn't picked in the 1st Round when he was drafted.

Anderson has really that solid in 2007 He threw 19 picks. on top of the fumbled 9 times. so 28 turnovers by Anderson alone.
Since the browns line is still below average. They need a qb which can move around in the pocket. Anderson is a pocket passer. Quinn can move. Besides that they need a running back. Most of a defense. and three decent wr
