Since he's been on this board, he's basically followed every condition gilmo asked for without complaint and as far as i know, other than one dispute, also, he never hid from that issues, he's been a member in good standing. Gilmo and the mods discussed this and simply felt he deserved a chance since verification of what happened wasnt clear.

Thats easy I remember it quite clearly

He bought a bunch of reprints then made up a story on how he found them in a metal tin at an antique shop. Then tried to sell them to members of several message boards.

After only being confronted with the completed reprint auctions it was all a big joke (because that's funny?). Then some detective work over at the PSA boards uncovered this name has ripped off several people on several different message boards, they where all using addresses in the same 2 neighborhoods most with variations of the same name. All of which now are clearly posted all over the internet.

Just about everything you said was inaccurate. Ill post what really happened when I get home to a computer.

whats the beckett BV on the card in question?

Just curious why this matters. There is no more irrelavent term in collecting than "book value".

it is what i go by for all of my transactions, as i believe it truly shows what many refer to as the "going rate". just my opinion though

edit- yes i see blan picked up on what i was originally going for

So you think that BV more closely reflects the going rate than actual sales do? Why are there people that STILL think that actual sales should reflect BV and not the other way around?[/quote:23mvgs29]
"BV" shouldn't even exist any more.
It's been irrelevant for MANY years now. It's laughable.

Take the 2006 UD Special FX Blue Refractor SPs for example!
Beckett should stick to Magic cards.
I have no clue why people still give them money or support their priceguide services (print or online).[/quote:23mvgs29]

It's because collectors get an ******** when they see one of their cards listed as being worth $40, nevermind the fact that they would struggle to sell it for $10. Makes people feel all warm and fuzzy inside, like they actually got their money's worth out of that $60 box of Topps that they pulled NOTHING from.

correct me if i am wrong, but isn't 100>0??

With Toms current feedback history here, what (may have) happened on other websites in the past shouldn't even be brought up on FCB. Let his feedback on FCB speaks for itself, and influence how people choose to deal with him, not YOUR interpretation what kind of person/trader he is. If you have any personal dealings with him that aren't on FCB, take them up where the deals were made, not here. If you don't have any deals with him that went bad, whats the problem? Are you just one of those people that complains to hear yourself yap?

I said I wouldn't comment on this anymore, and I won't, except to say "AMEN BROTHER!!!"

Wow you guys sure hang on Tom's nuts like a couple of school girls on Justin Bieber's....just sayin'

The guys an outed thief! for craps sakes! I don't care if he has 100 positive feedback, 0 negs, and 0 neutrals. You DONT GET A REWARD FOR FOLLOWING THE RULES. I for one had no idea this person's history and wouldn't deal with him ever based on it. Tried googling and searching this forum for info on him, nothing easily came up that would potentially warn me...So i appreciate the person to bring this into the light (and I'm not a new member) for others to see, its valid and warranted.

Do you get a background check when applying for job? Then you should have one in regards to trading online (no murder or ********* reference needed to make this be a sensical comparison)

Ohh and for those that say "he's been a good contributor, he's made great trades, he has perfect feedback" once again, no rewards for following the rules, thats a given anywhere. And if you forget easily...that's the perfect set up for another opportunity when it's big enough.

I always wonder how old some of these people are that scam folks, the answers never cease to amaze me.

I guess that's one way to look at it. If my kid's babysitter is a child molester, and you know that and I don't, I would really appreciate it if you took the time to let me know. If I'm about to trade with a known scammer, it would also be considerate of you to let me know. I didn't think the murder analogy made sense, but your post made it make complete sense. If a guy commits a crime in one state, that crime follows him to other states. Just because a guy hasn't scammed anybody on our site yet doesn't mean he is not a scammer. That's not Dr. Murry's game. He spends time building up a good reputation, once that is done he arranges a couple mammoth trades, and *poof* he's gone like Keyser Soze. Of course the one guy's deal with the $200 paypal gift went through smoothly... Tom is looking for more like $3,000 worth of cards.

I didn't get ripped off, I just read a lot of sad stories from a lot of sad traders who got ripped off. And then he started frequenting the Topps MB, where there were no mods- just a bunch of kids waiting to get ripped off. I was pretty vigilant about making sure that everybody knew he was a scam artist back then. I don't bother here. If CGilmo wants a shark swimming in his pool, hey, it's his pool. Plus we have all these great lifeguards around. I just hope that the FCB site is willing to help the people who get taken for thousands when it happens.

I know I seem rather confident that he will do it again. I really believe he will. I might feel differently if at any point in time he would have just admitted he was a scammer and he learned his lesson and he's changed. I probably wouldn't believe that either honestly, but... all you'll ever get from Tom is denials. There is another doctor named Tom Murry, and apparently he also collects Garko. So does the guy Tom Murray, coincidentally. And Thom Murry. All these people with similar names, all in the same region, and all collecting Ryan Garko. Completely believable.

FCB: "You're going to have to have a send first banner on your profile"
TomMurry: "That's no problem." The scam takes longer than a year anyway, suckers...

Here's how it went down on the Topps MB. First he posted about this old tin he bought at the antique shop, he had a good feeling about it. Then he updated it and said sure enough, it had vintage cards in it like he thought it would! Then he updated the thread with scans of the cards. Somebody showed us in his ebay feedback that he purchased them as clearly advertised reprints on ebay. Then Tom disappeared for a week. When he came back he explained what happened. Somebody had hacked into his Topps account and made that whole story up to make him look bad. Pretty plausible stuff.

It was an inspiration to me though. I thought occasionally when reading back over the posts I had made the night before, I had trouble remembering posting that stuff. I thought things like "man I got to quit getting so incredibly drunk!" I was out of control on the Topps board- correcting people's spelling, things like that. It's offenses like that that got you kicked off the board (sadly, I'm being serious about that part)... I set up some surveillance equipment and busted the perpetrator:

DSC00746.jpg

I loved the TMB. That tin box made for a classic thread. Almost as good as the guy who told us how to pop popcorn using 4 cell phones. He "tryed it, it worked". Had to bust out the birds again...

Wow... makes me wonder if he was telling me the truth when we did a transaction. When 2010 bowman came out, he was selling his case in the transaction board. He had a price of 1200 for a jumbo case, and at the time it was almost exploading to the 1600 range. Anyway i sent him a check for 1200. Couple days later he tells me his car got busted into and they stole the case! Of course i believed him and felt bad. I told him i was gonna put a hold on the check that i sent him because its alot of money and he didnt have the case anymore. Well he pms me back and says you dont have to do that, im an honest guy and i told you what happen, i take offense to that. I told him im just looking out for myself. Tom didnt scam me, with all these stories i just wouldnt liked to have been lied to. (Jumbos were selling at 2200 by the time i got my check back)

Fits his MO. Sounds like you were extremely lucky. Also sounds like you "loaned" him $1200 bucks for him to use for something else and then pay you back after he made a profit off of whatever it was. I have seen that scam a million times.

Wow, you must've been watching a Law and Order marathon on TNT. Titans, quit speculating on something you know NOTHING about. And quit pushing the envelope for Rule #1. I will say that Tom has been monitored VERY closely, I have ALL of his information and friends who can put their hands on him very quickly if something goes wrong. Yes, I have checked up on him with some of my contacts. He's probably one of the most checked on people here. As for all of the other stuff, its just that......rumors, heresay, nothing concrete. He wouldn't have been let on here if it were. So quit the bitching, shut your mouth, stop trying to stir the pot with **** like the comment above.

Wow blanning, you've been around a long time and im surprised. That's one of the oldest scams, stirred pot or not. And its absolutely retarded that mods have to monitor what I suspect is a grown man, to make sure he doesn't steal from collectors on a sportscard website. Seems like your time os well spent

Dude, I'm telling you, we as staffers really try to make sure that everyone is safe on here. We spend a TON of time monitoring people on here to ensure everything moves smoothly. Grown or not, we want to make sure that nobody is doing wrong. I just dont' want people trashing someone for unsubstantiated rumors and heresay and trying to come up with new angles on how they can make someone look bad.

Not sure why all the complaining.
You have the info, make your own decision as buyer
or trader and either deal with the guy or don't. I am sure every trader/buyer
has a I won't deal with that guy list ( I do )

Shut my mouth? No, I don't think I will. I've done nothing wrong and for you to sit there and speak to me like that? Who do you think you are? Mod or no mod, you are wrong.

You're attitude about this, towards me, is dispicable. Rumors and hearsay? Wrong again. Many facts have been brought to light about Tom Murry tonight and all documented and proven on many sites by many victims and even members here who were around when it all went down. Sorry that you don't like the truth, but it is what it is.

Obviously you and I will agree to disagree. Won't be the first time its happened. All I can say is that if you have CONCRETE evidence please send it to me. I will definitely review it with the staff and if it can be proven that its correct, then that person is gone. Plain and simple. I just don't see how someone would come on here and knowingly make their name be known if there is any concrete evidence out there. Kinda like Burge coming on here and saying, HEY!!! I'm Kevin Burge! Lets make some deals! Don't you think that people would have crucified him by now?

As a member here, I have to say, reading all of this scares me a bit. Both sides of this debate tom/mods vs others is pretty embarrassing. I tell people to join this board all the time, to learn about the hobby from the best, and have fun. Reading this, makes me want to stop with that. No matter who is right or wrong in all this, it's all shady. This thread makes FCB not look so good. I know if I was new and read this crap, I'd move on in a hurry, I may any ways. It's a shame too, this board has a lot to offer, but way to much drama. No matter where this goes from here, there are no winners, including the mods who have spoken. I think you all need to sit back for a while, relax, open a cheap box, and end this crap.

Good luck to all of you

Just because you can't or won't see it doesn't mean it isn't true. Not once did I petition for him being banned here. What Chris chooses to do with his site is his business. Tom has been sitting back here with his cocky attitude like his poop doesn't stink. I had enough and exposed him for what and who he truly is.
There are enough links posted in this thread, enough facts from people who recall the Shoeless Joe forgery attempt (threads on Topps are gone), and enough members right here on this site that have followed his escapades of thievery through the years and are aware of his many user id's, multiple variations he's used of his own name, multiple email and physical mailing addresses (all from the same area). Less we forget his being banned from every, or nearly every, other trading forum on the internet.

If you need more than that, than there is no use because your mind is clearly made up. That's on you. I feel satisfied that enough people know the truth now. And when time goes on amd user id's change and people forget, I will remind them again.

My mind isn't made up on anything. I am always willing to listen to what people have to say. I'm from the school that says if you have proof, I will make my decision on it. If its stories, rumors, or whatever, I can't base my decisions on that. If you have people that have been wronged, get me their information. I will contact them directly. Send me information that you have. I will be more than willing to investigate it.

If anyone has information regarding his scamming or forging, please send it to me asap. I may have missed some links so i will go back and reread this thread. If you will, please send it to me so we can look into it. Obviously, this is a very sensitive issue and I will be glad to revisit it. Thank you all for your input.

I've done my homework and provided more than enough proof, along with verification from other members and links to multiple sites detailing his scams. You're the moderator here, do yours. If you want to investigate further here's a good start.

Not that I believe for one second it will make a bit of difference. Google the following phrases.

Garkocollector banned.
Bad trader Tom Murry.

That will start you out. You can follow the bread crumbs from there. I'm satisfied that everyone knows all about the past he's tried to hide. Tom Murry is a known thief. Time will pass and I'll have to remind everyone again. No big deal. Time is all any of us really have anyway.
