Re: So tired of ******** ebay sellers and their counter offers

I hate the buyers that make me an offer of $2 on a $10 card I have listed and tell me the BV is only $8. Then when I politely tell them I never go by book value they say "but the BV is only $8" ::facepalm::

I've had that happen a few times already - and all different buyers.

Those are buyers I block.

The seller is under no obligation to sell it any cheaper than he wants to. The going rate is meaningless. Perhaps he bought it for $150 and now, for whatever reason, needs to sell it and doesn't want to take a loss.

Also, the "going rate" is meaningless because someone new to Ebay or unfamiliar with the search function could buy it for $150 on a whim on their initial search.

The bottom line is that the seller isn't doing anything wrong. He's not obligated to sell it to you for what you want to pay. He only needs to sell it for what he wants to sell it for.

Yes, the "eBay going rate" is bogus. I never sell a card for eBay going rate. People can either accept my price or keep searching. the only problem I see with this is that if he wants $149.99, then he shouldn't have a best offer checked. If he wants to get close to it, going down $5 would have been OK and work from there.

Perhaps the seller was annoyed or insulted that the original offer was $50 less than the BIN price?

So I see an item I wanted that was for sale for 149.99. Regular sell price was around 100-105, so I throw in an offer for 100. I get a response of 149.98. So tired of this stupid shat. I've had at LEAST 5 of these in the last 2 weeks and all of my offers were the going rate. Anyone else seeing this happen?

Noticed the same thing as well. Why even offer the BO option if your going to do that.
I decline the offer, move on, and never look back......

Now, if only the majority of this forum would grasp this kind of common sense and logic and quit whining about stuff all day. But I won't hold my breath.

Your constant need to be negative about absolutely everything makes me think you weren't hugged enough as a child.

Dont let the door hit you in the ass...
Thats what the forums are for. Bring up topics. Members debate both sides. Find a happy medium. Your view is not always the right one. I have had my views swayed by some very good arguments on these boards. Thats why i read them.

Just thinking about this reasonably...again...no stake in either side on this...but the seller is under no obligation to know what the current "going price" is on Ebay. Maybe he didn't know the last auction ended at $100. Perhaps he was offended with an offer of $50 less than what he was selling it for, so he countered with the .98. Maybe, just maybe, if the offer was $10-$15 less than the original BIN, he wouldnt have been offended and perhaps accepted.

Just a thought. Everything is not as black and white as it seems.

What's proper etiquette in terms of a % decrease when making an offer? If the BIN is $150, and you offer $100, is a 33% decrease an insult?

If you wont accept a best offer, you shouldnt have it as an option. You can also set auto decline for any offers under a certain amount. The responsibility lies with the seller. I was offering going rate, which I thought was a reasonable offer. If he would have countered with a 20.00 discount, I would have increased my offer as well, paying a little more than I wanted to, but still paying less than his asking price.

some sellers are dumb (they'll NEVER come down on ANY card even though they've had it @ the same ridiculous BIN for years), some buyers are jerks (ex., i get offers of $5 on cards that routinely sell for $100+; i get buyers who point out the 1 lowball/anomoly auction + act like i should be blessed that they'd even make that offer; etc.).

as a seller, i decline the unreasonable offers (+ if they're $5 on a $100 card, i'm likely going to send back a way high counter), I accept the reasonable offers or make a counter somewhere in the middle, etc. if a buyer doesn't like my BIN or doesn't take my counteroffer, life goes on. as a buyer, i make my offer- if a seller doesn't take it or comes back w/a way high counter, oh well, i'll get the card elsewhere.

buyers are funny though- if say a card goes for 50-60 + you put 59.99 BIN, you'll get WAY lowball offers. if you put a WAY high BIN, you get more reasonable/realistic offers. Why?

Sorry, a 3 year old post and some online claims, some of which arent even spelled the same way as my last name arent preventing anyone from thinking youre a small minded turd.

FYI, there are 2 nationally known Neurosurgeons named Tom Murry. Theres also a Tom Murry who is a talent scout for national network TV. The President of Calvin Klien, you guessed it, Tom Murry.

Run off now little boy. Leave this discussion to the grown ups.

It is kind of interesting that the first link he posted has someone claiming that a Tom Murray (aka Tom Murry) was part of some mischief -- and that he is also known as GarkoCollector...

...which is the name tied to your photobucket account.

I'd actually be really interested in hearing the full story and truth behind all of those accusations given TomMurry's comments in the Birdsfan85 PSA thread talking about going to Talmer's house to confront him about possibly ripping people off.

I at no time ever said that all of these were true nor did i say these were actually me.

This is about an ebay seller. If you have issues with me, PM me your concerns
I also never said anything about confronting him about ripping people off. That **** is how rumors get started. I said of meet up with him to get peoples stuff back. NEVER was anything said by me about confronting him about ripping people off.

You seem to be choosing your words carefully, so I will ask if not all which are true? Cause I think we went over what happens when you type the words garkocollector banned in google. May as well clear it all out since it seems to be confusing people.
