I feel like we should start a collection and all pitch-in a little something to get him started. Losing your entire collection like that is just awful. I'm out the door right now, but maybe someone can start-up a collection? I'll send something.

P.S. I know he's not asking for that and probably will say not to, but let's do it anyway. :)

You like the Yankees and Nationals, right? Pick a young guy that doesn't have many cards from one of those teams - Brett Gardner, Jesus Montero, Jordan Zimmerman, Mike Morse....

Someone you really enjoy watching play and start a player collection. That way you get to collect everything early on, do not have to do much card hunting from previous years, and watch them grow as MLB players.

I like 8's idea to start and Lance's idea to supplement it with in between.

But I know how you feel about listening to Phillies' fans.

GL with whatever you decide to go for!

BTW, I know you dabble in other sports too. I don't follow it much, but basketball has got to be really dirt cheap right now, might be a great time to jump in on it...

Well **** happens buddy. The wife destroyed part of it the first time, threw it out second time and this time.......well mother nature decided it was time to take my cardboard.

Sounds like a rocky history with the women-folk ....

Just trying a little levity (hope it's not inappropriate!).

Seriously, maybe try and replace some of the key things you really enjoyed, and use this as a time to zero in, perhaps, on something particularly meaningful to you. i.e. Reduce.

I'm sure I can't be the only one not buying what's trying to be passed here. Maybe the only one with stones enough to say it though.

Please tell me I'm not reading this wrong. Are you calling out blanning for BSing this story? He's a well respected member and mod here and someone who would not make this shat up. Who the F@$! are you?

This probably wins most incorrect statement in FCB History, and I thought the NY Penn Thread was uneducated.

Hall of Shame worthy...

B-lan has mentioned this before shortly after the storm and has many friends outside of this forum who can verify this and previous stories. He wasn't looking for anything other than brainstorm ideas.

Nice job Titans, you just made yourself look like an idiot who is completely uneducated about the subject he's talking about, an Internet Constant.

No, you are not the only one! I totally 100% agree with you! It's clear that Blanning is asking us what he should collect, so that after 6 months, he can claim financial loss under RCW 128-53.3: "all monies accrued wherein forcably, or not, shall be governed in excess of said finacier"...

Nice try Blanning! We are on to you! I am glad Titans had the balls to call you out!!

Ah yes, the proverbial ******* has shown up. Dude, you have no clue what I went through in the last three weeks. Lets start with the storm itself and I'll tell ya about it. I saw roofs of homes with people inside literally ripped off and hurdled through the air like butterflies. I saw houses collapse like a game of Jenga when someone pulls the wrong piece out. My crew saw people die and couldn't get to others that weren't able to be saved. We didnt' sleep for the better part of three full days because we didn't want to stop helping people. We couldn't stop.

This storm stalled out over MY county and within about 20 miles of where I was, the eye of the storm just sat there tearing **** up. You want to talk about not buying my story? You don't even fricking know me nor have ever asked. I have watched parents weep because they lost every damned thing they own, clothes, furniture, homes, cars, pets, neighbors, family members.......yeah you get the picture now? I have people coming to see me EVERY day that don't have money to fix their homes that they have lived in,...that their parents lived in.........that their grandparents and great grandparents were raised in and built themselves. I have taken money out of my own pocket to help people who didn't even have money to eat because they lost every piece of food when the power was out for over a week. My crew worked very closely with the National Guard going door to door to make sure people had MRE's and bottled water because they couldnt get out to get supplies.

You want to know what I got out of this? NOTHING. I didn't get paid for it. I volunteered. I didn't find out about MY loses until after I finally was able to go home, but only after we were basically run off by emergency management because they were worried about our well being because we had been going so hard to try and help we were worn thin.

I don't want anything from anyone at all. I have never asked for handouts from anyone on this forum nor here where I live. I've had people tell me they will send me something before and ya know, that just shows the kindness on this website. Some packages I got, some I didn't. I don't expect people to send me a damn thing. Ya know, you are just another notch in the ole belt as to why I shouldn't get back into this hobby. Thanks pal, I REALLY appreciate it.

Topps Gallery of Champions metal cards (silver, copper, aluminum). They are less likely to be destroyed by a calamity. I'm being a bit tongue in cheek here, of course, and I'm sorry to hear what happened. You may want to invest in a high quality safe for your next collection or simply put the best stuff in a safety deposit box.

First and foremost. and more importantly if you jump on it and tell me so I will throw you $150 towards the cost. Only 1 catch, you cant tell any one else the combo. That includes lady friends and children. If you die, they can drill it.

For those who are talking crap about blan, you have no idea what you are talking about.

Hop on aim and hit me up blan.

Brian, I have known you WELL before these boards and through ALL three of the disasters that have been brought upon your collection.

I couldn't begin to ell you where to start. I am a player collector first and I dabble in team collecting. I have attempted set collecting (I never quit, I just haven't finished 3 sets yet) and have attempted to collect HOF Topps rookies.

Find something to collect that truly means something to you and take it from there. I wish I could help guide you in the right direction, but whatever you collect should be because YOU want to collect it, not because someone else said so.

Keep your head up buddy.
